Official ICC World T20 thread

It seemed Kallis was more interested in keeping up his average than actually keeping up with the run-rate. Bunch of amateurs

Yes i knew the game would come when kallis worries about going out more than hitting the ball

Duminy as well, came in and destroyed us, scores slow along with his 5 day kallis partner

Fck me but that's another disappointing semi final from a SA perspective, wtf??!!!

+1

Our fielding was off, our bowling was off - except for the last couple of overs. And we weren't attacking with the bat at all - nudging singles when the run rate is 11+ already

Having said that, Pakistan played a great game. Their bowling was excellent. And Afridi had an absolute blinder. The best team unfortunately won today.

Disappointing indeed. Favorites like in the 1999 Cricket WC - win everything up to the Semi Final and then self destruct. Not pleasant.

Hell man if only Kallis had timed the shot he went out to just a little sweeter, would have gone for 6 and we probably would have won this game. Clearly his dismissal was the turning point. Having done all the hard yards he needed to bat through and take us to victory... As fate would have it he did not...

No i do not mind losing a semi final if we actually tried to win it :(.

We never tried we played 5 day cricket in t20 thanx to kallis and duminy, more duminy because kallis was our anchor and duminy was just shocking today, kallis should have seen this earlier and told duminy from the 13th over, HIT THE gOD dAMN BALL these singles are making us lose :( but no he helps him nudge singles and then suddenly they look and see OMG 11 an over maybe just maybe we should not nudge anymore singles!!!!!!!!!!!

Kallis did a lot of hard work i agree but he needed to work harder and ensure 7 or 8 runs over, even 6 would have been fine but no lets go and see how many singles we can take, let's not worry about the run rate climbing, kallis needed to play far more positive cricket in the middle overs as did duminy even if it meant we got bowled out for 100!!!!!!!!!!!

all those overs of nudging and running singles, we could hardly manage running 2!!! why is it when it counts players look like they would rather lose by 20 runs than try and win??????????????????

We did not maximize those first 6 overs and gibbs has to come on and play spin!!!!!!!!!!! i knew this would happen in a massive game.

Anyways not like i never expected it so i am not that disappointed in all honesty.

As I said, I don't believe Kallis is a team-player. More interested in his own player stats than anyone else.

Yeah I don't blame Kallis that much, he at least made an effort and went at a strike rate around 120. Duminy one the other hand was at less than 100 for most of his innings, and barely scraped over it after the odd boundary at the end. He didn't even make an effort during the earlier stages, knowing that we have wickets (and big hitters) in hand.

To be fair we timed the innings to almost pin point perfection, that's if we were aiming to hit the winning runs off the last ball. It was a close game and I don't think the early loss of Graeme, Gibbs and AB was the fault of Kallis or JP yet they had to consolidate the middle of the innings. It was on the brink of collapse when JP came in..

SA played really bad cricket overall today. Wasn't good in the field, bowlers struggled, and they weren't able to [yet again] properly get along with the bat.

Close game i do not think needing 82 off 48 deliveries is close, only then did kallis think ok maybe we need some hits.

Kallis is about stats not the team, he has shown me that in many 50 over games by destroying our run rate. Yes fine consolidate but when the run rate is 10 an over the time for farking consolidation is long gone and the time for smashing the ball has entered the fray.

/puts jk8 on one-week ignore

To everyone who's suggesting that they should have just hit the ball, do you honestly think that didn't occur to them? How do you propose the hit the ball when it's landing in front of your toes delivery after delivery?

We were beaten by a team that just out-played us.
