In a situation like that in such a short game you always playing catchup. Had we lost another wicket around then we may have capitulated a lot sooner. Had Kallis timed his shot better and got 6 instead of out he would have steered us home. These games are on such a knifes edge but you simply cannot blame Kallis or JP for the defeat when your spinners went for 9 to the over and when your top order collapsed as tamely as it did...

Sorry but I'm not sold. Kallis is rated as one of the BEST in the world... his strength is pacing himself... JP is the "crown prince".... why couldn't we be inventive and send in Roelof after AB got out, or Albie??? So what that we lost Gibbs, AB and Smith... dude there's only 20 overs and we have one of the strongest batting line-ups we've had in a while... heck even Parnell can bat. Face it, Kallis and JP should have realised they weren't able to keep up with the rate, then hit out and if they get out so what? In walks Bouch, Albie, Roelof, Botha, Parnell.... dude, I say again, ONLY 20 overs hey :rolleyes:
Even Pakistan got the jump on us when Afridi admitted at the post match that he asked to go in at 3!
 
Must agree... If you need boundries and you know they're bowlong yorkers every ball, double step and turn it into full tosses... Our batters let us down after our bowlers pulled us back...

Kallis did what he could people needed to bat around him... Also we woke up to late... Trying to start getting the run rate in the last 2 overs is stupid... Need to do that from 15th over...
 
mmmm... it's called tampering with the batting order and perhaps they should have but that's hardly the fault of Kallis and JP that they didn't. That's captain and coaches decision..

It's cool I'm just as mad as you but I just can't accept that we were ONLY 4 down with 4 balls to go... :D

Agreed, that game was so close though. It's amazing how important just about every moment in a 20/20 game can be.

First round or semi's in the end there is very little difference, you end up in the loser pack. History only remember those who win the trophy. And as usual we under perform when it matters most. We needed to go hard up front, we knew gul and the spinners would be very tough. Morkel needed to come in ahead of duminy to give him time.

The annoying thing is they have a team shrink who apparently taught them to play the game not as 20/20 but 240 little battles.:p

Clearly we needed a nuclear bomb in this war :mad:

SA lost from the first over!
Dont blame Kallis and Duminy, they scored the most runs no? Kallis was the only one i was afraid of, none of the Proteas have the raw talent to face Paki bowlers! Pakistan is all about their bowlers, their batting is average, fielding is pathetic! If u cant play their bowlers u lose the game!
Those that have been on the forum for the past two years might remember what ive said time and time again, SA will not win any WC with no Indians in the team! Sounds trivial, biased and just ridiculous i know, but ive been right every single time!
Lol at u punks blaming everyone!

I guess we will never have a chance against pakistan and India then since they CLEARLY outnumber us when it comes to indians? ......

we lost because duminiy just aint a good finisher and pakistan had the trump cards called Afridi and Guls
 
Pakistan got lucky. We'll beat them most of the time but lose in matches like this. Ultimately that's cricket.

JK8 nobody will ever understand cricket, that's what makes the game so wonderful.
