Lol ive argued this on this forum for to long now. I wonder when the Proteas will ever learn.
Start with selecting the right player ffs! Roelofs good but has no class, Parnell, ur 'strike' bowler get my vote for the loss hehehe he will never be a Waqar or Wasim! Dnt even try to compare them! Select the players that u left out back in the day ;)
This blaming Donald and Klusener, Pollocks maths and now Kallis and Duminy crap should stop imo.

waqar and wasim are of the best bowkers of all time and you're comparing a 19 year old to them?? wtf are you talking about you moron?
 
The battle was lost inside the player's heads after Pakistan batted first. They're chokers. Put SA under pressure and ask them to bat second in the knockout phase of a tournament and they will do all the hard work losing.

If we wanted to choke and lost in the first rounds then we might consider Indians after all they are well informed with bookkeepers ? Remember the previous world cup? Ireland beat Pakistan and it almost gave poor old Woolmer a heart attack, I would rather take my chances with under performing players then someone who have no integrity when it comes to money in the game :)
 
You have to hand it to the team. Being able to repeat the nature of our failures is perhaps harder than our successes.

I'm fully sure in our distant past (eg 1990) a cricket fan brutally killed a sangoma on the way to a cricket match.

Dont blame Kallis and Duminy, they scored the most runs no? Kallis was the only one i was afraid of, none of the Proteas have the raw talent to face Paki bowlers! Pakistan is all about their bowlers, their batting is average, fielding is pathetic! If u cant play their bowlers u lose the game!
Those that have been on the forum for the past two years might remember what ive said time and time again, SA will not win any WC with no Indians in the team! Sounds trivial, biased and just ridiculous i know, but ive been right every single time!

I have the utmost respect for JP in 50 over and test cricket. I believe he is a waste of space in 20/20 cricket though. He has proved it throughout this tournament. Not his fault though - it is the selectors' fault.

We wholeheartedly deserve the title of chokers. We needed to start going after the bowling from over #13 - instead we pushed and prodded around like a bunch of over-confident fairies.

As many have stated before - the only team that could beat SA in this tournament...was SA. And we did so tonight. I am more than disappointed - I am pissed off.

Yup i fully agree, i do not agree that it was duminy's fault he could have at least tried earlier to hit some balls but he played it like we had 4 an over to get.

See the difference between us and pakistan was pakistan never batted defensively, they attack our spin and put our spin under pressure, we let them dominate us with spin by playing defensive cricket and yes dj SA beat SA i agree with that is for sure. Also the comentator mentioned at times it seemed during the paki batting that there were no green fielders on the field :p

Really sad to see the first 6 overs wasted and watch gibbs come in bat with spinners on either end when he could have done damage upfront in the first 6 because he loves the hard ball coming at him fast, he is not all that great when it comes to spin and that is why i cannot understand why they bat gibbs at no 3 :(, you don't see gayle or jayasuria batting number 3 do you? Why because they can destroy you in the opening overs which is what we needed, we needed to be ahead of the run rate and hit as many in the opening 6.

The Aussies were knocked out long ago..I think the aussie papers have already forgotten about this tournament and this article requiring three clicks on SMH links before you get it, is hardly critical of SA.

But in general the Aussie papers and public are nowhere near as 'hung up' about SA as you guys are of them.
 
You guys amaze me. You have the best all rounder ever (arguably) in all forms of cricket but you keep bagging him, yet his stats prove that he performed in the series....oh, and then you say 'he just plays for stats'
He scored the most runs so far, best average, second highest boundaries and for the runs he has scored a respectable average....yet that still doesn't prove it because he is not flashy enough.
FFS what do you expect him to do when Smith couldn't connect one ball properly (even his 4) and skied the ball twice in the same way. Then Gibbs and de villiers got bowled and the send in another guy that can't push the rate, rather than someone to complement Kallis's style.

Work it out... Kallis scored 64 of the runs at under his normal rate ( probably would be higher if more freedom with less wickets down), and it then required the rest to get 70 (removing extras) in 66 balls.
Go to the scoresheet and look at the RR column.

In other words (without extras) he was batting at faster than the required rate, and scored the most yet you still say he is playing for stats and he will get slaughtered in the papers as you usually do to your good players.

The problem was firstly the spinner past his use by date (who has been worked out) Botha leaking runs, then bringing Duminy back after he made the break through (lightning doesn't strike twice), then the inept performance of 2, 3, 4 and sending a slower guy in when you needed the rate picked up....and then not taking risks when it was clear you are going to have wickets left.

SA say they can cover all options...but they never divert from the plan...same old Wessels/Cronje/Pollock conservatism creeping back...win a few games then have one plan only.

Ok...should I mention Kallis's bowling now????

Kallis has not bowled that well in pro 20's and just because you have good stats does not mean anything when you allow the run rate to climb above 11 and still push singles, so yes we can blame him because he slowed the innings down badly along with duminy. Consolidate and then push on we did not need to consolidate until the 16th over, we had 7 wickets in hands from the 12th over, start getting the run rate down and don't allow it to climb above 12, but no we push singles, wait for the 16th over think we can easily hit 13 an over. What a joke.

Rather go out swinging than go out pushing singles and this is not the first time i have seen kallis destroy a run rate and it won't be the last.

Did you not watch the game and see how he was happy to push singles? Sorry but i saw what him and duminy did and too me it seemed they would rather lose the game than try and win it.

Problem with us in big matches is we get scared of losing and forget about winning, positive cricket wins matches not pushing singles.

FFS what do you expect him to do when Smith couldn't connect one ball properly (even his 4) and skied the ball twice in the same way. Then Gibbs and de villiers got bowled and the send in another guy that can't push the rate, rather than someone to complement Kallis's style.

Work it out... Kallis scored 64 of the runs at under his normal rate ( probably would be higher if more freedom with less wickets down), and it then required the rest to get 70 (removing extras) in 66 balls.
Go to the scoresheet and look at the RR column.

In other words (without extras) he was batting at faster than the required rate, and scored the most yet you still say he is playing for stats and he will get slaughtered in the papers as you usually do to your good players.
