That's actually a bit of a fallacy, he has one off the best run rates in 50 over cricket in the team..Kallis is about stats not the team, he has shown me that in many 50 over games by destroying our run rate.

SA played really bad cricket overall today. Wasn't good in the field, bowlers struggled, and they weren't able to [yet again] properly get along with the bat.
Exactly, we were staring into the abyss... They did extremely well to get us as close as we did but alas, in the end...tbf at 50-3 odd early on put the pressure on Jp and Kallis to build an innings. It is easy to say go for it there are wickets in hand, but when you are 7 down at 15 overs, you will turn around and say why didn't JP and Kallis build a base.
/puts jk8 on one-week ignore
To everyone who's suggesting that they should have just hit the ball, do you honestly think that didn't occur to them? How do you propose the hit the ball when it's landing in front of your toes delivery after delivery?
We where beaten by a team that just out-played us.
That's half way acceptable - but why not build a base around one player and the other one takes a few more risks?tbf at 50-3 odd early on put the pressure on Jp and Kallis to build an innings. Gonna head off to the airport with a sign saying "Welcome home chokers". Wouldn't have been too upset if we'd lost in the final, but not another goddamn semi.
Chis double step making the block hole balls full tosses, they never looked like trying to hit the ball until we needed 11 runs an over and that is what killed me.
They got so far behind the rate they may as well have started slogging FFS. Did it not occur to them the run rate was getting out of hand? Surely you can try and do something, this is not bangledesh batting this is flippin SA with power to come but no we still run singles.
Hit the damn ball or at least double step do something FFS.
Yes agreed but 13 an over in the last 3 overs in this format of the game is on... What killed us was the early pressure, 3 wickets for 16 runs from 21 balls faced by Gibbs, AB and Smith. In a situation like that in such a short game you always playing catchup. Had we lost another wicket around then we may have capitulated a lot sooner. Had Kallis timed his shot better and got 6 instead of out he would have steered us home. These games are on such a knifes edge but you simply cannot blame Kallis or JP for the defeat when your spinners went for 9 to the over and when your top order collapsed as tamely as it did...Sorry I have to disagree sandman. Yeah it was a good consolidation - but then Kallis only got out after around 17 overs. Our hitters had no chance to play themselves in for a few balls, and the RRR was already 13 at that point.
