Hopefully this is the last time I have to comment on this...its 11:40pm over here, had a hard week and need a scotch and off to bed.:)

Kallis played 5 games.

In two of the most important games he scored more than the rest of the team combined, at a higher rate than required whilst the rest of the team scored at a lower rate than required...whilst supposedly 'sacrificing' their wickets.

Apparently getting out cheaply is better than batting long, fast and the most runs.

They won one of those games, and unarguably* if not for that above fact (more runs , higher strike rate) they could not have mathematically won that game, nor was he mathematically the reason for losing the other one, i.e. his batting rate and contribution was more than mathematically required, whilst the rest weren't.

Let's totally get over that now...it is not theoretically possible.
*that means don't argue about it anymore.

He also leads the 20/20 WC batting averages, and the most runs and the second most boundaries.

If that means he is not a 20/20 player, or that he can't hit boundaries, bats too slow etc then what does that say about all the rest of the players in the tournament.

They may as well scrap this format...they don't have any capable batsmen in the world.:erm::rolleyes:

Kallis was over 100 all the time and ended with a strike rate of 118...why don't you believe the actual stats.

Duminy had a strike rate of 80 when Kallis departed...so who slowed the batting down????

Just one last thing for Killa ( I think Chris agrees by now)...up to De Villiers departing they batted at strike rate of 98. Duminy/Kallis partnership was strike rate 114, with Kallis rate at 138 and Duminy at 80.
This totally refutes all your claims about Kallis slowing the pace at that time.

I detest the concept of "pacing you innings" when batting second. Rather do it the Aussie way (the old Aussies not the new:p) with 5 overs to spare. That way you put your opposition on the back foot from the word go, and hopefully they never recover. But it is risky and could go hopelessly wrong as well.

Geezuz we going round in circles here, Smith 10 off 14, AB 1 of 5, Gibbs 5 off 4, Botha 2 overs for 23 runs, no wickets. Which part of these stats are so difficult to understand??!!!

Kallis and JP scored 108 of the 142 runs of the South African innings and you blame them for the loss??!!! Do me a favour...

We did actually go for it from the start.
Smith sacrificed his wicket trying to slog runs, then the next 2 batsmen didn't last too long.
So that stuffed it up.

Well thanks for taking the time to explain it!!! I don't get it... Kallis plays for his stats. What kind of insane and unsubstantiated nonsense is that?? Cricket is ALL ABOUT STATS, the stats are so much a part of the game it's impossible to ignore them and Kallis's stats are impeccable...

Smith never looked comfortable at all in his innings, while AB and Gibbs on the other hand were out foxed by impeccable bowling from Afridi.

I want them to win sure... mostly because malinga looks a little illegal but I won't be celebrating or anything.
 
Duminy/Kallis partnership was strike rate 114, they got most of the runs so for 108 runs they where behind the required rate so if you score most of the runs with one partnership and they are behind the rate you inevitably lose.
