Game lost because of pathetic goal kicking and even worse tactical kicking. Mediocre defense, compared to a lot better defense by the english.

Overall better by SA A though.

Well done Saxons, much better at applying pressure than the SA A side. We had little depth on the bench, and it showed. What happened to our support, the Saxons had us at our balls.

The Japan "B" team has just probably scored their best try in Japanese history, massive break by Mafi, good retention, score Horie.

England starting to really hit their straps. All the stats (apart from handling errors) point to what should have been an Aussie victory, but for Herculean defense from the English. They move to number 2 in the world now. Just a pity there isn't a England/New Zealand match on the horizon any time soon. We play them at Twickers (Nov 13th) on our end of year tour and on current form, are in for a long day at the office.

Indeed.

And when they meet the Boks in November they'll be on an extra high after a successful Brexit.

I am very disappointed in the match officiating between Scotland and Japan. The ref was extremely biased, making 50/50 calls in favour of Scotland. The ref yellow carded Tui for a team warning for sacking the rolling mauls, yet Scotland sacked every rolling maul without any warning. Scotland gave the most obvious high tackles and forward passes, without any penalty…

Hammett even stated his disappointment at half-time for the poor match officiating.

Japan deserved the one yellow card, but the ref was Scotland player #16. Scotland was even awarded a missed conversion.

Two yellows down, and Scotland won the game.

Overall, good performance by Japan B.

say what now? :wtf:

It was an 50/50 call whether the ball went through the middle or not (it looked slightly to the left from my TV pov), the two linesman had a stare down competition before awarding the conversion.

The worst call in the match was the yellow against Hendrik Tui, absolute nonsense. Look, Japan is in a bad position, they do not have a good available team at the moment, so even though they had discipline issues there was no reason to be double strict with them.

Scotland called a massive lineout to also include a couple of backline players, Japan had no other call than to sack the maul, yet he gave the Japanese team a team warning which ultimately led to Tui’s yellow card for apparently entering from the side of a chaotic maul.

To quote, Rich Freeman, a NZ sports journalist in Japan,

Would love to know what that yellow card to Hendrik Tui was for. Everyone in press tribune mystified. #JPNvSCO

Even though in my opinion Scotland would had won the match, the refereeing was completely inconsistent. Scotland scored their winning points while Japan had two in the sin bin.

LOL. Did Nick just say Adriaan Strauss made no tackles during last week's game? Nil, not one, none at all. Seriously? Warren please!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Well, statistically, if he made no tackles last week, one hit today would be a 100% improvement in just seven days.

Gardner seems way too eager to penalise players not rolling away, especially in cases where they really can't.
