Can not agree more. Was quite embarrassing. And my hat goes off to the Irish for a great win. Well deserved too.

April is likely to be benched next week against the Saxons with Brummer starting. I think that we should start to groom Schoeman as a stand in, Pollard will be returning but it will take him some time. Goosen is a good bet, but then we are still digging in our roster which are playing abroad, the same with giving Boshoff a call.

There is something seriously wrong with the Argentinians, it is like Super Rugby had weakened their potential. Die Italians are scrumming them into oblivion, inexperienced Italians putting ears on experienced Argentinians, compromising play. This is #5 playing #14…
 
SA's best players are playing in Europe, helping to fill their clubs trophy cabinets.

You could quite easily pick 2 teams from abroad that would beat both the Boks and the SA 'A' side from last night.

Our rugby is in free fall and has been for the last 3-4 seasons. Player drain coupled with increasing political meddling is hampering the growth of the game locally.

To lose to a 6th seeded, injury ravaged, 14 man Irish side, at home, is on a par with losing to Japan in the RWC!!
 
THe Boks were pathetic!!

Just that!!! I can carry on but stand the risk of being banned.
 
I wouldn't read too much into this performance. The guys had very little time together compared to the irish. Yes, we as fans expect more, but let's give them some time. It felt like each of the players were still playing the game plan they were used to at their respective franchises. Lions to trying to run, big forwards in the way, and when the ball got to the wing, Willie kept squeezing the backline into the sideline.

We missed Combrinck who is able to break the line. The centres just couldn't work together. There was absolutely no fetching of any kind, so the loosies that are there for that purpose did nothing. PSdT did 10 times better than Lood. Etsebeth tbh was just too quiet. And with 7 men in the scrum against our 8 they still dominated, shocking.

Faf's service was as good as always, and with Elton next to him a lot better. Elton's little inside passes kept the opposition guessing. But once the ball went beyond him, not much else happened. When we do spread it wide, the ball just goes through the hands from scrummie to wing/fullback and there is just no space left without any metres gained and there was too much lateral movement across the field, and too little going forward. Mvovu was good in the air though, which Willie seems, after his fall, not want to do.

So let's hope AC saw the impact some of the bench players made, and those guys make the starting line up... Hopefully he saw that our scrum should've been dominating, and was actually on the back foot. That front row needs something...

Pretty sure I'll be flamed for this but I need to put it out there... I just don't rate Willie at all.
Sharkies, flame on, but I'd rather have a 15 who's solid for 80 minutes week-in-and-week-out than 10 seconds of brilliance every third or fourth game. Also, wouldn't mind a full back who realised we play the length of the field, not the width.
Not losing sleep 'cos of this result, not enough time to develop combinations, but I'd like to see Warren, Jaco and Ruan start in JHB... That's just me 'tho.

You mean Zane Kirchner? That 10 seconds if brilliance is just too much to ask for with the solid 80 minutes. :whistle:

I agree on Willie though. When he came in the side he had that x factor, but now everyone knows about him and keeps him quiet. And he is not as solid as Zane and Francois Steyn.

Lambie is not available next week, and Lambie and Pollard is not exactly the best at tackling at the back. Willie should be experimented with back on the wing. Brummer will probably be promoted to the bench... I do not know what the A team is going to do... April was spooked.

I disagree, de Klerk took longer than usual, pick up the ball, run 2-3 steps horizontally, pass with an attacker already on the receiver. How many times did the Irish captain came straight through a ruck with de Klerk pondering his options? The Irish scrummie was three times better with controlling the play than de Klerk. Lambie barely had game time, the Irish was all over Elton, and Elton in my books was as spooked as April.

True but Lambie would make better decisions.

Another distant thought was JP Peterson at the back....with your suggestion of Willie on wing
