Official LG G2

Stevo it is the official rom, however it's unlikely you will get ota updates unless you install the os from the region your phone is from, i.e SA phone, SA firmware.

Raithlin is there a way to root 4.4.2 if you didn't flash su in the install?

Thanks

I found a toolkit for the phone but I'm not sure if it will root kitkat

KIT kat is not rootable, at present . You have to go back to 4.2.2. If you want root. Then use one of the custom methods on xda to install 4.4.2

Basically The root exploit has been patched by LG, but apparently you can get around it by still loading the bootloader of 4.2.2 with the modem and system.img of 4.4.2.

If you have installed kit kat with a custom recovery then you can root by booting into the recovery and flashing superuser. HTH

But isimobile how do I get back to 4.2.2, I have tried but the method they describe in the xda forum doesn't work in win 8.1. I have been looking for a way but it's becoming futile :(

I am not sure either. I am not on on 4.4.2. Waiting for update.

What I can suggest is to run the programs in compatibility mode. Have you tried that?

[Edit]
Have a look at this for windows 8

Basically you need to run the vb script in a administrator command prompt.

Well in this thread you will only get love for the G2 because it's a hot device, which does have its quirks but you can still love it. I have also seen very little love for the S5 on the internets but it is newer and since it is an option for you to get something new, why not consider the Sony Z2. Much like the S5 where you can wash it etc, but looks much better. Up to you magico :)

So after a full day use of kitkat on my G2, it's not working out of me. My battery life is shot and by 2pm it broke the 30% mark and thats with moderate usage. My battery usage shows that the bluetooth is consuming battery but it is off. My screen even with brightness down and auto off is destroying the battery. For those on kitkat are you experiencing similar or not?

Absolutely not. How did you get the update?

I have checked online and there are users out there experiencing the Bluetooth issue. According to my stats it has consumed 6% and the screen consuming 34% of the battery life. Is the screen consumption normal?

Thanks! I am leaning towards the G2 - just need a bit of reassurance. How well does LG support this device? I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus which I love and has never given me a moments trouble. Z2 .... the wife had an Xperia Go which was utter rubbish so I am a bit hesitant to go with Sony.

I had an old Xperia. Rubbish. The new Z1 and later have no bearing on the old devices, believe me. Have a friend with a Z1, and he keeps showing me underwater photos with it.

Screen is about there. It is a beautiful screen though. Hope you come right. I've just been lucky, I guess. No Bluetooth worries, no hissing sound...

You can't compare a mid/low range phone to a flagship magico. The flagship carries the name of the brand, so if it's ***** then it will hurt the company. I can't say for sure how long LG will support the G2 but the have given it kitkat which was a positive move.

The screen is brilliant, its so awesome that it makes me forget about the battery drain hopefully lg releases an update to fix the Bluetooth issue. Thanks for the help.
