Official LG G2

Kind of off-putting for anyone considering the G2 if that is the experience (in Lachdanan's case) of trying to get it fixed :erm:

I got a flip cover when I bought my phone. I have had enough of that stupid flap, can anyone recommend a nice case? I've had a look at the Spigen one and I like it, any other suggestions?

I got a no name one that my dad got from asia which i think you can get in china town. Covers edge nicely. Clean matte feel at the back and pretty slim.

Does rooting the G2 void the warranty on the phone?

And does the same hold true for installing a custom ROM like CM11?

Vodacom did a repair for +Jacodebeer I think last month, he posted it was around R2700 to repair ouch...
Ouch indeed. Vodacom's subsidized price on this phone is only R3,600 over 24 months on a uChoose Flexi 350, i.e. "LG G2 LTE (D802A) @ R499 PM (R150 + R349 Subs) on Flexi 350".

Granted they make their money on the contract subscription, but it does illustrate that a contract is the way to go as opposed to buying a phone cash?

CM11 is taking helluva long to reach stable - reckon I'll go with 10.2 so long as I'm getting sick of this LG interface and miss my CM on my previous phone!

But things get worse in the 16GB variant where we are told only 10.6GB is available. In other words, 33 percent of the claimed storage is never available to users.

How are you guys finding the 16GB capacity of the locally available G2? What does one do when running out of space? Are there any ingenious ways of getting around this issue if one was travelling and without access to a PC / laptop?

The entry level Dropbox subs is $9.99 per month for 100GB of space. Once my free Samsung sponsored Dropbox 48GB of space expires then it's bye bye cloud storage for me :(

Dropping Dropbox? Here are Five Alternatives. (none of these offer that much space except for Mega which offers 50GB free, the site wasn't loading properly for me but now it is. I'll have to check it out later on: https://mega.co.nz/#about)

edit: I suppose this could help too; usb flash drive with OTG connector:

Hi strontiumdog, in terms of cloud services, if you get the G2 then you get 50gb free for life with box.com, just download the app and register.

i Had a 16GB LG G2 and what i noticed is that brand new the phone has 10GB space free.
I have alot of pics and videos, hence i sold my 16GB G2 and bought a 32GB G2 which a family member brought from Australia.

Loving the additional 16GB

Duly noted, thanks! Now I'm not so sure if I can live with only 10GB free with the 16GB version :(

Not as difficult as I initially thought. The only time it really hurts is during video recording.
16GB really seems like a step back, I mean even my 2 year old S3 has 32GB capacity or 25GB free after the OS has its way.

I reckon It'll only be released when the G3 comes out...typical LG slow releases.
