Will rooting the latest Android OS work on the G2?

You dont have to root to flash a stock lg rom. You can just download the rom and with a few tricks you can flash it to your device. You root to unlock features you otherwise dont have access to. You can flash a custom recovery, then install custom roms like cm. Thats just one example, im using cloudystock 2.0 which is based on the lg kit kat rom but with a few tweaks.

Stable enough for me, im not a hardcore user so i cant say where it will give in. I can say that it is faster than stock for me, there are camera improvements where i noticed the auto focus is a lot quick, so is taking a pic. It has art support as well and the stock kit kat for lg doesnt. You can even select the lg apps u want to install using aroma, which is basically like an install setup u get on pc where u select and deselect things.

There is an update to this coming out bringing bug fixes and an improved camera, so u can probably wait for that

I'm not using CloudyStock, but CloudyPro, which is by the same dev. Stock is the more stable of the two, Pro is the more updated one. What is in Pro eventually makes it to stock, I believe.

You get the benefits of the software that came with the G Pro II, so multiview is one big plus. You lose nothing, literally, and gain (for now) KitKat. Worth checking out.

I'm an S2 vet myself. The G2 is a little more difficult to flash the recovery initially, but from then it's the same.

Same as the both of you'll, the s2 is an easy device to play with. The g2 is a bit complicated but like raithlin said after you get a custom recovery on it then you should be ok.

Hey guys, my earpiece suddenly went dead. If I transfer the call to speakerphone its fine but I cat hear anything from the earpiece. As my phone was not bought in SA I need to find a repair centre. Does anyone know where I can have it repaired in Durban?

An app similar to Cerberus whereby you can remotely control your phone if it's stolen/lost. Do a full wipe, take pics with the front camera of the perps etc. Cerberus unfortunately requires root access and in guessing most apps like it probably also do.

Another stalwart is Lookout. Also requires root for a few features, but is fully usable otherwise. There is a subscription involved for wipe, but a trial is available too.

Bug: GPS not working or inaccurate

Some people report that the GPS on the LG G2 takes a long time to get a fix, or that sometimes it won’t connect at all. There are also reports of the GPS losing its lock and showing an inaccurate position. There’s no obvious consistent reason for this problem. For some users the GPS is working fine, but the problems are cropping up on various carriers and in different regions. To start with, make sure that your LG G2 has a clear unobstructed view of the sky. No phone’s GPS (which is aided by Wi-Fi and other cellular signals) is always accurate.

Potential solutions:

Make sure location services are on. You can find these in Settings > Location access. Turn the Access to my location to On. Wait a moment and then try using your mapping or location app.

Try downloading and installing something like the free GPS Status & Toolbox app as it will show satellites in view and allow you to reset A-GPS data.
Call the retailer or carrier where you got the phone and ask for a replacement.

One aspect of the cm rom for the g2 is the dpi, makes the icons far too big for my liking. Also u have to download a custom camera rom because the cm one is terrible, 13mp pics 700kb in size, no thanks.
