I want it now :(

My contract upgrade is due next week. Do you know how it works when a contract expires? Does it become a month to month payment or can I convert it to a prepaid contract? Obviously I don't want to sign another contract but I want to keep my number.

The day after your contract expires, you walk into a Vodacom Shop and tell them that your contract has expired and that you want to go on the 79c a minute prepaid.

Then they give you a paper to sign, and an hour later you'll get a sms stating that you're now on prepaid.

Oh, you need proof of address and ID book, if I remember correctly. Maybe not proof of address.

That's it. Easy peasy.

Thanks, I'm not with VC though but may just port to them as they'll probably have the G3 years before Cell C does.

I was also told you need this, but when I phoned 808 (MTN) the guy did it over the phone for me.

Will never ever trust anything MTN wants to do over the phone, MTN is the crappiest company in South Africa.

I'd rather walk into a shop and get a shop stamp or ref number that it has been done.

That's impressive. I've had to wait more than a week each time I ported from MTN, with them insisting that the problem wasn't on their end (it was, though).

They're pretty bad. Vodacon is also woeful.

Not surprised. Luckily I've only ported once.

Great Hardware on the device... but just had a look at a software features walkthrough and it looks a bit unpolished

If it's anything like the G2, don't be fooled. Its excellent and definitely on par with other major brands

Basically, the higher resolution display clearly benefits the overall experience in some applications. I'm looking forward to his next video with regards to the question of potential performance issues as a result of the higher resolution.

Yay, just checked now and my current contract expires only on the 8th of September. Should be perfect timing for G3 release.

JR Raphael - Quad HD vs. 1080p: A real-world display comparison

I'm starting to think I need to upgrade my eyes.

Don't get me wrong: I've got perfectly good vision. (With my contacts in, at least.) But smartphone manufacturers are now telling us we need super-high-res Quad HD screens on our mobile devices -- and damn it, I can barely tell the difference between them and the already-impressive 1080p screens on smartphones today.

So I must need some sort of special superhuman vision. Either that or, you know, we really don't need these Quad HD displays after all.

Pick whichever interpretation you prefer. What I can tell you for sure is that I've been spending a lot of time using the LG G3, which packs a futuristic-sounding 2560-x-1440 538-pixel-per-inch display, and comparing it with the HTC One (M8), which has a more typical 1920-x-1080 441-pixel-per-inch screen. Both phones use LCD panels, and both have been praised for boasting among the best smartphone displays you can feast your eyes on right now.

And you know what? In most real-world use, the differences between the two are virtually impossible to detect.

All the reviews I've seen so far have been pretty positive and out of this years flagships this one is the best one imo.

Now the wait.
