Just read the article comparing the G3 to the One M8 on GSM Arena. Highly disappointed

what are you talking about? Are you reading the same websites as me?

have you seen the polls? Looks like everyone wants the Z2 over the G3 :)

An opinion on the LG G3 by Erica Griffen

"Calling all #LGG3 owners!

So, I am still here in Frace until the 19th of August so I am dying to know if anyone has gotten their hands on an #LGG3 from the United States. Does anyone have one? AT&T or T-Mobile?

What I am seeing with a European version (can't remember which) is that it still has sharpening added to the display. Shame. It really needs to have the ability to disable it.

I must know if it's the same on US versions as well.

Oh, and as for some updates on my G3 usage... The battery life has not gotten any better. Ho hum. Let's just face it... The battery life is just ok but nothing amazing. I'm just glad Phone Arena corrected their results.

Also, I am seeing that this device seems to throttle quite a bit. I'm surprised. The launcher drops a lot of frames, as confirmed by developer option tools. Really hoping for better performance as time goes by.

This is why I don't like getting my in-depth reviews out RIGHT AWAY.

Come on +LG Mobile Global this was the device I was very excited about and the experience has been just kinda blah."

Definitely waiting for the Galaxy Note 4 after reading that ^. Maybe the Snapdragon 801 and it's GPU just can't handle the 2K screen efficiently, and the display probably gets much warmer than a 1080P one so the phone tries to keep things bearable by throttling performance?

I can now see why Samsung scrapped the QHD S5 with S801, it doesn't seem to be a good combination.

I don't think its the 801 not coping with the res, there are now numerous tabs and phones with similar resolution. My guess another laggy bloated OS. HTC Sense ftw

Someone on anther forum got their 16GB G3 and they posted screenshots of the UI and what apps come preinstalled, didn't seem like much, certainly not as much as Samsung, but maybe some of those few apps are taking up more resources than they are meant to, that said, WRT Android tablets with Snapdragon 800, I can't say I've been impressed by their performance throughout the UI.

Is it just me or is there zero love for the G3 on MyBB? I've been checking out the HTC M8 (seems like a fantastic phone) but I have some reservations about the device being able to make it through the 2 year contract period (non-replaceable battery, speaker issues, issues with the camera lens getting scratched up).

The G3 seems like a great device, bar the size and okay battery life. I'm a relatively light user, so I think I'd probably perceive the battery life as "pretty good". Apparently the Vodacom G3 comes with the wireless dock included, so I'll just keep the phone on the dock during the day and still have lots of battery left for post-work drinking ;)

Did I miss the memo? Is this thing crap?!

Great phone but the HTC is quite unique when it comes to the dual camera setup and amazing build quality

I agree, I really do like the HTC. Sense is a fantastic skin and I understand the logic and process behind the ultrapixel camera (it takes some pretty amazing pictures and you get total manual control of the camera). I dig the metal design and you can even install the Google Play Edition rom for a stock experience.

I'm just pessimistic about HTC SA's commitment to repairs, service, etc. Seems like there is less that could go wrong.

I have a feeling I'll probably be torn between the M8 and the G3 right up until I sign for another two years...

In 2years time Android will be all about 64bit, I don't even want to imagine the RAM, screen sizes&resolutions, battery sizes etc...we will be dealing with. Android L with its 64bit support and upcoming 64bit CPUs will open the flood gates to some ridiculously overpowered smartphones and phablets (like they aren't already overpowered), so by the time your contract upgrade arrives in 2016 your G3 and any other 32bit based Android will probably be seen as a dinosaur anyway, so I say if you want it, get it.

I'm hoping the Note 4 arrives with a 64bit Exynos and LTE, that will keep me happy until 2016....I hope :D which is why I am waiting, plus I remain not so conviced WRT Snapdragon 801 + 2GB RAM (16GB variant) + QHD display -combo, I feel it will help LG runaway from updates this time next year.

What variant are we getting in SA, the 16GB with 2GB RAM or 32GB with 64GB RAM?
