hahahahaha thats a lot less than the "5 cups we taking this season".


If things continue like this,I cant wait at the end of the season so I can update manchester united's wiki page:

Yip. Which why winning the league and champions league means you have had a great season. ;)

FYI, you need to win the league before there can be any talk of doubles, trebles, etc. But, from then on, and cup counts.

Bottom line: every gambler loses either later or sooner. 'Arrogant Ferguson Pays The Penalty' makes for a good headline but nobody should be so deluded as to think that Sir Alex Ferguson will not have realised that his team selection on Sunday constituted a gigantic risk. Along with being an utterly damning commentary on the embarrassing state of the Wembley pitch and a nod of recognition towards the very real threat that Liverpool are posing in the league, the United manager's decision to then put his head on the block and carry through eight changes was thus as brave as it was remarkable.

Ferguson at least has the consolation of being proved right in consistently stating that the quintuple was impossible, although the outcome on Sunday - and the season overall - may have been very different had United managed to stay out of sight at the top of the league last month. To win the lot, United needed to wrap up the title with a substantial number of matches to spare and it is this missing ingredient that has eaten into their season and also resulted in their Champions League wobble last week.

Nor can it be overlooked that United were just a reasonable penalty shout away from beating Everton in normal time on Sunday and only lost on a shoot-out. Had the Toffees comprehensively humbled United's stand-ins then criticism of Ferguson would have been warranted, but the competitiveness - verging on superiority - of United's B team vindicated the manager's gamble. A risk, yes, but this was by no means the recklessness condemned elsewhere.

Ferguson, though, is on more uncomfortable ground in tallying his rage at Rafa Benitez's two-year-old description of Everton as a "smaller club" - Benitez, as far as we're aware, has never actually said his neighours are "not big" or "small" - with fielding a near-reserve team in a semi-final against the Toffees two days later. The mitigation that the league remains his priority will not sit especially comfortably in the manager's office at Old Trafford either because Ferguson's gamble will look unnecessary and misguided if Liverpool fail to beat Arsenal on Tuesday night 24 hours before United's meeting with Pompey. The old boy won't appreciate the notion, but only a Liverpool victory will make this week's numbers add up.

2 things about that article.

Firstly I can say the same thing, if Liverpool converted most of their draws into wins (having Torres fit for most of the season would of helped that) then Liverpool would be top by at least 10 points and then Ferguson could of concentrated on winning the FA Cup. You see what I did there?

Secondly, Let's not forget though that if Man U were playing either Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool in the Semi under the same circumstances he is under before the game yesterday, he would of played his full stregnth side. That just goes to show that Everton are also a reason for putting out a second string team. Does that mean that he thinks Everton is a "small club"? I thought he said they were a "big club". I'm confused.:rolleyes:

Don't underestimate Alex, he's a cunning little thing. Bless him.

FYI no barca supporter has said we going to win anything, we take it game by game.

Manu supporters have been talking about 5 cups at the start of the season hahahahahaha.

Sadly they dont have plastic cups for mickey mouse tournaments in spain.We have to make due with the big 3 cups.

supasta, if you hate the EPL and English soccer so much, STOP watching and commenting on it as if you are a supersport commentator...

anyways, the fa cup loss can be taken in many views...Fergie has fielded a 2nd team for the fa cup since it started this season though this time he played more young players than before...it may just take the heat off a bit for the team and concentrate ont he league and CL.

Where do I state I hate english football?

I live in england, english football is what I see everday in the paper,on the TV and majority of the matches I go watch are english teams.So if anything I think I have a more valid opinion than yourself on the english game so I will comment as much as I like.

Ya everyone who is not a barca supporter, every other team manager/fan/reporter.Though if you go to barcelona and chat to the fans everyone takes it game by game.Unlike Manu supporters who have been saying they going to win everything at the start of the season hahahahaha
 
I don't post in the utd thread much even tho I am a supporter, but I reguluarly read it and what I don't get is that some people don't seem to understand the meaning of the thread title...AFAIK it says Official Manchester united SUPPORTERS thread...meaning people who love Man U should be in this thread, not other team supporters..And if u want to contribute to the thread and u are not a Man U supporter, pls say something good as this is not a thread to be criticising Man U in or comparing teams who play in different leagues.

And another thing, so what if we thought we could go for the Quintuple?? We believe in the team and our youngsters for the future, so I think it could still happen one day! :)

Ok, all u Man U haters..Tear me apart as much as u want. hehe;)

Also point me into the direction where it says that i cannot post where i like?

United supporters made themselves look like fools with all the Qunituple talk. Boasting and shouting everytime they got a chance that they will win the Quintuple. I see it every year,.

The season normally starts with them boasting that they will win the TREBLE. What about Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal who also stand a chance of winning the TREBLE?

Why are their supporters not shouting from the sides that they are going to win the TREBLE?

So if United fail to do it, how can you expect other supporters not to rip them apart about it.

Forums and cars are not the same - you should understand forums, the law of derailment and online willy waving. OK, not that last one maybe, but still...

More to the point - it's the one thread that is all ManU talk - and I'll be buggered if I'm going to start another bleedin' thread if I already have one to voice my opinion and what not...
