Exactly the same can be said of Shinji Kagawa. Which makes me question whether he would get more games at United in any event.

I agree with the first part. I don't doubt Mata would get games though.

Not that he can't, and yes, I don't want Chelsea to lose him, but they already have a player of similar calibre and ability in Kagawa, and he is wasted far more than you could ever compare to Mata.

I don't know about 'far more'. I'd say Mata is wasted more because he's a proven EPL player.

I did say could mean, who knows whats really happening with RVP and his injury.

Good question. He's been back in training for a while now, still no firm return date.

I didnt say he was undroppable  and that wasnt even the question. You were asking why we would we want to go for him because we have Kagawa.

Which is precisely the point. You already have a player who is similar (and up until his move to United, was one of the best #10's in Europe), yet he has not been given the same amount of chances over the same period. Mata has done well for us, yes, but that doesn't mean that he won't suffer the same fate that Kagawa has should he move to United.

Regardless, I still find it really difficult to believe that JM would sell one of his most talented players to a rival. Regardless of what others say, United are still the champions, and directly strengthening them is never a wise move.

Yeah, that I agree with. So many different stories ranging from months out to him being fully fit for tonight :wtf:

Where though? If Kagawa couldn't get into his preferred position, I do doubt that Mata would.

Fair enough. But in terms of talent being misused, Kagawa does take the biscuit IMO. I did hope that he would have seen more games this season, especially with the current problems in midfield.

Just my view- there are too many tangible and intangible aspects of Mata moving to United, that sort of preclude any such deal taking place. Losing one of our best players to a direct rival, of whom we could not pry their most valuable player, would be a very negative move in all respects.

Regardless, this is football- far stranger things have happened, and I wouldn't be surprised at all (just massively disappointed) if Mata ends up at United. A small consolation, would be if it's for 50mil plus Kagawa.

Even though Utd has Kagawa who can play that role, isn't it nice to have a backup. Or even use Kagawa as backup, but in United's instance don't use him at all.

From what I have seen, Utd don't need a player like Mata, there are other areas that require more urgent attention.

Maybe the newspapers job is being done and people are visiting their site or buying the physical to check up on this rumour. But on the other hand, guess only time will tell if it is true or not.

Hopefully (when all are fit) a 3 of Rooney, Januzaj and Mata roaming behind RvP. Kagawa and Welbeck to alternate in, plus subs. I get your point though, but for Kagawa I think it was a question of Moyes not trusting him at #10 for whatever reasons. Mata can play on the wing as well, but maybe Moyes will actually play him at #10.

Me too.

Yeah. Something seems off about this to me. I really have (NO) faith in this happening until I see Mata has signed.

Yup. And no :p

Even with Mata joining, United have zero chance of winning the league this season.
And I assume Mata will also be cup-tied for the Champions League.
No one else will pay that sort of money for him anyway.
So why not take the 40 million pounds.
That's a lot of dough.

Why would you want Kagawa?
Let's be honest, the guy has been a flop at Man U.

Imagine that setup. But I do wonder what about Kagawa has made Moyes so untrusting of him. Same question I have of Zaha, actually.

I'll stick to that, too.

Yup. And no :p

Don't be greedy now :p

Not just him. SAF hardly used him as a #10 either.

Zaha needs to mature. He's too prone to trying tricks and flicks/dribbling when he could make a first time pass. However, he needs gametime to mature, which he isn't getting. Think he's going on loan.

Haha, counter-offer: 20m + Ando + Bebe.

Not just for the CL, domestically as well. If he plays this weekend, he will be ineligble for every other competition other than the PL.

He was a flop because he wasn't played enough, or in his preferred position enough. But he is a quality player nonetheless.

Top transfers on my list:
CM Koke, Marchisio, Vidal
LB: Coentrao
CB: Someone
RM: Someone who can actually cross the ball and defend

It is a weird one i wont disagree, if it does go through then i imagine there is something going on behind the scene that we arent privy to.

Lol I keep copying the wrong name :D

Coentrao

I've spent most of the afternoon thinking about how to deal with Zaha and Kagawa, and the only solution I keep coming up with is loan them out to another EPL club where they will start and experience the rigours of the modern english game. They both have some experience, but nowhere near enough. I'm sure if they were to walk into Swansea/Stoke/WBA/Newcastle they'll play almost every week because of their quality.

As for a new signing, we need at least two in this window. Mata would be a great start and I can see a united team with no out and out wingers, but Mata, Rooney and Januzaj (all 3 drifting wide when needed but) all playing behind RvP and ManU scoring loads of goals. The other position we need to fill urgently is Left back. Evra makes too many mistakes, and is nowhere near as fast as he was or needs to be.

RVP's fitness level is confusing.

Soon as RVP goes into the treatment room he turns into a unicorn. Ask any Arsenal supporter.

He's got his EPL medal now and United not likely to win another this season. Probably just resting for the world cup. Don't be suprised if he is back in the fold by the next international break and then pitch up with a sick note as soon as his back at Old Trafford. :D

Moyes was after Cesc in the summer, can't remember anybody say. "Oh..strange we've got Kagawa and Rooney."

He was obviously after that type of player. Mata = Cesc light imo.

Rooney wants to play as a striker anyway. Iirc he said as much.

Nah, Cesc plays deeper than Kagawa,Rooney and Mata.
