You first said that Thiago shouldn't be a replacement for Carrick, about 5 of us told you he'd be playing next to Carrick rather than instead of, all of which you ignored.

Now you post that we should get a solid midfield partner for him.

How is that not trolling?

Carrick is getting on though, Thiago is young. In a season or two you'll need someone else to partner him.

He's 31, and if he has a decent partner at the base of midfield, he can play there for years still

Didn't ignore, I missed that... sorry. Besides, my question was if Thiago can be viewed as the long term replacement to Scholes, not Carrick.

Yes, Carrick is not best suited as a holding midfielder. Would prefer someone more suited to that role to play alongside Thiago, IF he is indeed on his way to Old Trafford.

Because you are being overly sensitive to a simple question, which is not really the same as a previously stated opinion. Last time I ask you guys any sort of non-incendiary question...

I think he's perfectly suited. Carrick can protect the back four and distribute play, if needs be primarily through Thiago.

I think Carrick would be an excellent partner for Thiago, Carrick can do a holding job in midfield. I would rate his defensive skills over his offensive skills, Carrick is at his best when he is intercepting balls and breaking up play.

I actually agree with you, highly underrated. But I think he would be better if he was allowed to dictate the game. I feel that his talent is wasted on having to also break up play and move into that more defensive role. He is such a great reader of the game.

Suppose I'm just hoping for a season or so of Carrick not having to sacrifice the better part of his game for the team. Would like to see a more combatitive midfielder next to him, to give him more time and space on the ball.

If it's 5PM SA time we won't see it. Sky Sports is only on from 18:00-19:00. But i'm sure they'll recap what as said...over and over again.
