Rafa out. Zidane is the interim coach. Maybe we can secure Pep?

I think this was premature, good for Athletico and Barca as this will destabilise Madrid.

Mad Madrid

+1. 3rd in the league. Through to next round of Champions League and yet he still gets sacked midseason. Madness indeed. You can only assume they are in a rush to get someone who has suddenly become available - Mourinho perhaps. Or maybe he told His Royal Highness Perez where to get off.

It was his brand of football that pissed everyone off... defensive and lost, defensive and drew, defensive and got thumped by rivals - Barca.
Drawing against Valencia yet he withdraw's a striker - hmmm CV sounds like LVG but one better

Thumped by Arsenal, lost to Norwich, lost to Bournmouth at home, drew with Newcastle at home, strange subs and dismal champions league showing

When you put it like that it makes some sense. But the timing still seems strange.

If it is Benitez's brand of football that has pissed off people then whoever hired Benitez should also consider resigning. Did they seriously sign Benitez thinking that he would make Real play fantasy football, given the style of football of his previous teams?

Has anybody commenting about his style of play actually watched Madrid play this season?

I've seen every game this season (most live, some delayed). It's far from LVG/Mourinho/defensive/negative football.

Sometimes we've failed to break down teams, yes I'll give you that. Sometimes we were clearly outplayed (ie Barca).

But people who are criticizing his style of play are Madrid, with all due respect, have no idea what they're talking about.

We have been more defensive than under Ancelotti no doubt, but this was needed. It's very important to have that defensive stability. It's not like we don't attack or back pass all the time.

I'm not even gonna talk about the comparisons to LVG and Utd, it's simply ridiculous.

Context is also important, like who you played in those last games, your log position versus rivals, stage of the season, how long were you in charge for etc. Good comments Shalin_ZN, just look at the Benzema goal against Valencia, the football has been good and it's not like the log leaders have run away from Madrid. Barca as good as they are have been having their own stumbles too. Now you bring in a rookie mid-season, good news for Barca like I said.

The thing is why did Madrid even hire Benitez? A number of us in this thread laughed at the decision and said he would be fired before the end of the season. They fired Ancelotti for Benitez, Perez is a clown.

Yes the blame should go to the decision makers as they don't seem to know what the hell they are doing or what is it they really want.

If results are anything to go by Zizou's appointment is questionable. The B team had up and down results and didn't show much if any improvements (According to the daily mail). Yet this appointment seems like a knee jerk reaction with a touch of nostalgia. Sure he was being groomed, but this soon?

On another note, Benitez seems to rub people the wrong way. He come to madrid and the first thign he does is piss off ronalbo, saying he dont think he is the best player in the world. Stevie G also wrote in his auto biography that Benitez was (im paraphrasing here) "cold" and indifferent. Also, Benitez like to play the blame game, ala that famous rant at liverpool. And then there is the fans. Madrid fans are amongst the most fickly in the world we know and they simply didnt like the man, benitez.

I just wish Real Madrid went with Klopp.

PS, man utd fan
