I don't know how it works but we live on an institute's grounds (school, head office, college, etc.) and they are hosting a WebAfrica account (sorry, completely dumb with the terms) so they monitor and restrict the usage quite strictly and don't allow us to access through wifi (everything works through proxys) that's why we took 2 lines, one for hubby's pc and one for my laptop.

Think going the 'own ADSL' route might be the best at this stage. Any suggestions on good routers?

Personally I have a Belkin, so don't buy one of those, they rubbish. Get something from D-Link or Netgear with a 300mbps N Class. All modern phones support N class and they have the highest range with strongest signals.
 
Nashua recently started marketing data plans, like Blackberry plans, for Nokia Lumia phones.

I think it won't be long before we see them hit Android.

Do not go for Blackberry if you are pining for the Note 2 - it will be even better than you imagine. A thousand times better than the iPhone.

The Note 2 is going to be an everything killer. I am so amped to get it!!
 
Apparently... An insider at Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Note 1 and Galaxy S2 will be getting Andriod 4.1 "JellyBean" from October onward... The report says that we shouldn't read too much into it, as it's not been confirmed by Samsung Mobile, however, they did say that the same happened with ICS, where an insider confirmed it before the Company made it public....

Google SmartLAB. Their offices are just outside CPT.

They are official service agents for Samsung and very professional.
 
Cracked my screen. Luckily it's only a small crack in the top right corner just outside of the viewable screen, and not noticeable unless you are outside in direct sunlight. The crack is under the surface and the screen remains smooth thankfully.

But it's there and I can't help but look for it every time I look at the screen :twisted:
 
Note upgraded to ICS. Now it gives a hardware failure with dial-up networking. Samsung ZA said to wait for the new version of ICS. Bummer
 
Well, considering how useless these providers are, expect any newer version of the OS to arrive 2-4 months after the rest of the world....
 
There's a new way to root the Galaxy Note Found Here. I tried it, and am rooted... I also loaded the TW5, also found on XDA... So I'm a happy chappy now... :)
 
Upgraded my Note to ICS and now I find that my phone lags quite a bit and that sometimes it just plain refuses to do anything. :confused: Will it help if I do a hard reset and then run the ICS upgrade again? Could it be that something went wrong with the upgrade, or should I just wait for MTN to release bug fixes?

Official OTA? As for a full Wipe / factory reset, I do not trust any ICS kernel, official or non....
 
Did you do a clean update, i.e. reset your phone before? If the laginess is getting to you then you could reset your phone and format the memory (only do these from phone settings, not with Odin as I'm not sure if the flashing bug has been fixed yet). Keep in mind it's a big upgrade from 2.4 to 4.0, so it might be that you have an app or setting somewhere that's messing things up - sometimes it's best to start clean. Personally I just upgraded and didn't delete anything but then I'm not experiencing any serious lag.

NOOOOOO!!!!

The flashin bug is triggered in all device areas, custom rom,CWM, Odin, Bootloader, phone settings. No matter how you trigger the wipe on you Note with ICS you run the risk of triggering the bug, apparently its a 5% chance, but if you are in that 5% you will spend the following 3-4 weeks without your phone
