Official Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) Thread

My phone (stock ICS) has just upgraded itself to 4.0.4 I thought it would be JB, not another ICS :(

Thats because teh official update for the Note is still a few months away, I would expect it mid to late Q1 next year. They have just released the S3 update a few hours ago and they most certainly not going to give away the biggest trump card the Note 2 has smack dab in the middle of holiday shopping season.

Not sure about the months away, I have seen mutterings about a fairly imminent release.

Ya but here we have to deal with Vodacon and eMTN. 4.1.1 is already on sammobile, but only 4.1.2 is going to be officially distrobuted via kies and ota and vodacon and emtn take months to approve those.
 
Ultimate XXLS7 Rom + OTA fixes + Nova Launcher = pure bliss!
 
And XXLSA was leaked, super smooth apparently. It's suddenly raining jelly beans :D

How do you guys find out? Is there an XDA thread for official ROM's? I couldn't find it. Do you just follow Sammobile?
 
I can confirm that XXLSA is indeed a major step up from XXLS7 in terms of smoothness and responsiveness. Feels like I just bought a new phone. And this with the TouchWiz launcher so it should be even smoother still with Nova :D

The triangle will also appear if you change the kernel from the stock One, even if you don't have root.

Did you have any issues with edge / 3G? I really want to try the leaked jelly bean roms but the last time I did, I lost all my apn's and couldn't get them back no matter how many things I tired.
 
Ultimate Rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1970626 with XXLSA updated yesterday. Going to swing it after a day or two for bugs to be sorted.


So easy to Root N7000 these days:

For people who have Unrooted phone and ICS 4.0.4:

I can show an easy way to flash it.

Just download GL_NOTECORE_HYDRACORE_v4-3b_STD.tar
Flash it with Odin 1.85, (Click PDA, choose hydracore and press Start)
After this you will have Root on your phone. Restart it and check if Hydracore Kernel is correctly installed.
Now you can go into CWM and flash the Rom.

(to go in recovery press Volume UP + Power Button + Home Button at same time until the phone is booted into CWM)

The kernel you're flashing before installing Rom doesn't matter since with v4 will be replaced by PhilZ 3.1 for XXLS7

...That's all!

I've been using the Ultimate Rom since the first leak and haven't had 3G issues on Cell C.

yip also on ultimate xxlsa... much better than the other leaks of jellybean. will try out nova but touchwiz is performing well as well
 
Ok, did some research on this ultimate rom, looks really good... Especially love that it has OTA updates and can change the silly touchwiz theme to stock android.

Will be downloading and flashing tomorrow.
 
Any of you guys on Ultimate's JB 4.1.2 V5 XXLSA find that in the calender when you go to the next month it crashes the Touch Wiz?

EDIT: Loaded Nova, no crashes ...

You won't be sorry, just be sure to follow the flashing instructions properly to avoid some random bugs.
