Official Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) Thread

I officially have no idea what I'm doing. How do I flash the JB Rom with mobile odin? I've got the custom kernel download thingy done and dusted, but what do I do next? Even the chainfire thread on this confuses me:

Now you should see the main Mobile ODIN screen. It will list a set of partitions. Clicking a partition will allow you to select a file from your SD card to flash to that partition.

My partition just says (greyed out) "PIT, IBL/PBL, SBL, EFS Mobile ODIN does not flash these!"

What do I do?

EDIT: I assume you need an external SD card to do this?

The only things I can load into Odin are the "mobile" and "kernel" stuff. Just can't figure this out :/

@IzZzy ... So you have done the root with the ExynosAbuse.APK? And you have downloaded your ROM? Which ROM exactly and is it a Zip file?

Hey. Yeah the root went super easy + downloaded the JB rom (700 megs, which you linked too) which is a .zip file. What's the next step once I've got mobile odin running? I've copied both the JB.zip across and the "unzipped" JB just in case :/
 
No need to unzip the ROM.


My apologies, I was running Pro ...

Click Flash Firmware, browse to the ROM zip.

I thought that was it :) That feature is unavailable in light, so at least the problem wasn't totally with me :D

Pro is 50 bux so I'll just get that from the playstore.
 
Okay everything went well but now on the setup screen after flashing, I can't get past the "choose your language" page.

It says "Unfortunately Samsung Setup Wizard has stopped working". Just before that though, I get a short message flash at the bottom of the screen saying "Currently unable to download. Please try again later".

Only think I think it could be is that my mobile data and wifi is turned off, and the phone was in silent and I think the phone has remembered these settings - because its still in silent.

There isn't a way to turn it back on though. Must I wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache?

So it is repeatable... must be something to do with Mobile Odin... But good news is the Philz Kernel with CWM is on your phone... All good!
 
Thanks! I knew I got the "wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache" tip from somewhere. Thanks alot for all your help! It's busy reinstalling the Rom now *holds thumbs*

Must say, the one screen I saw of JB looked nice :)

I'm surprised it kept all my apps :)
 
Please post your thoughts and experience on this rom after a few days of use. I'm tempted.
 
After installing the JellyBean update via KIES last week, I did a factory reset this morning.
My Note is working just fine. No lag and very responsive.

I actually sold the Note to my Brother a day after putting the ROM on. I saw him this morning and asked how it was behaving. Told me everything was running fine, but not as fast as his Nexus 4... I lol'd! 1.5ghz Krait Quad vs 1.4 ARM Cortex Dual. You cant compare the two for raw speed. Also the difference in RAM is more than double. But that aside, the Note is running great. I still think that the Note screen visually looks better than the Nexus 4...
