Official Super Rugby Thread 2012

Totally off topic, but wrt Sunday rugby, years ago we had a few Currie Cup matches on Sundays. In one of the games professor Arrie Schoonwinkel was the referee and when tempers started flaring some swear words were uttered. Prof Schoonwinkel said "ag nee manne, moenie so vloek nie. Onthou dis darem Sondag" :D
True story that I'll never forget.

Lions centre, Doppies La Grange is of to Italy.
Johannesburg - Lions centre Doppies La Grange has signed a two-year contract with Benetton Treviso in Italy.

La Grange will be leaving the Lions on June 30, 2012 to take up his new contract.

La Grange, who was named vice-captain of the Lions this Super Rugby season, has seen his playing time curtailed by injury.

He really impressed me last year in the CC, shame to lose him.

From the glory of the Currie Cup to relegation out of the Super 15.

Wonder who the wealthiest unions are atm.

I would guess:

1) Bulls (after being paid out for Meyer and the assistant coaches it surely can not be anything but)
2) WP (Oldest and have a couple of wealthy backers as well as recent success)
3) Sharks (Else they would not be able to afford some of their players)
4) Cheetahs (With Toyota and some private backers (as rumour has it))
5) Everyone else
6) Lions

Anyone betting on a Lions victory this morning?

The Blues vs Lions pick is like trying to win those stupid games at Gold Reef City for a teddy bear. You have to be freakin lucky to get it right!

I went Blues by 16.

When has WP not been successful? They just are never the best. They almost always get of the best attendance, so their support must think that they are successful.

I can't fault you on that pick.

I actually tossed a coin to decided a winner! And then tossed it again for margin.
Heads - Small Margin
Tails - Big margin

Rubbish James!!

If that were the case how did you decide on Blues by 16??

Haha!

16 is a big margin for the Lions! No team has demolished them this year.
They just aren't good enough to stay ahead or come back enough.

Gawd, Jantjies sucks soooooooooo bad ..... hope he comes nowhere near the Boks this year.

Question - why does the ref say: "Get on side Blues" when they're obviously off side but when the Lions are off side, he instantly blows the whistle. Why no saying to the Lions what he says to the Blues

Also, the ref warns the Blues the whole 1st half with no action but he sends off a Lions player because he "spoke about it to both teams in the downtime" ....... more weekly ineptitude.

FFS

If you feel like you do not have enough stress in your life, become a Bulls supporter...

Tahs 21-20 atm
