Official Thread: Samsung Galaxy S (I9000)

I got my 2.3.4 JVQ from samfirmware.com so im not sure if its leaked but i might go back to darkys 10.1
Finding it a little slower then 10.1
Battery also seems to have lasted longer on darkys but will give it another day or 2 to test and see...

Ok I'm thinking of also getting the Samsung Galaxy S maybe next month or so. I only have a few small questions..

1) How bad is the phone without the lag fix..
2) The firmware updates.. Do they also void warranty?
3) What can I do to the phone to make it run better without loosing warranty.

I saw this same phone at a customer the other day and was really impressed with the look and feel. It was playing a HD MKV movie without any problem and man the graphics is awsome from what I have seen.
I don't wanna get the phone if it's really bad and you have to do all these steps to get the phone running ok and in turn loose your warranty. Then I might just have to get another Nokia which comes working strait out of the box.

So what I am looking for is basically the pro's and con's of this phone..

1. Update the phone legitimately using KIES and it is a dream
2. Nope
3. Nothing but with the Gingerbread update the roms and things are not a necessity just something us geeks like to do!

I agree, It is something we like to do but it does make a difference.
Sometimes custom roms work and sometimes they dont...

Running the newest Juwe ROM now. v5.1. It's really fast. Getting quadrant scores of 2000+.
Juwe v5.1

I am also not using Darky's since version 10 onwards but am using their Dark Core. I am happy currently and etc but may give this a try "Juwe" actually. Looks not to bad and seems promising. Can always change the look with Go Launcher or Regina 3D Launcher like I am currently doing.

I am still wondering what Google plans to bring out end of the year with regards to their plans on making Android non-fragmented and their promises that you could install one Android version on any device.

Tried juwes for a few days the reboots got a bit too much for me and seemed to get worse, but it was really fast and the look was really cool.

Ended up installing vanilla 2.3.4 JVQ with cf kernel and am really happy.

The luck is needed - I hate Kies, it makes me want to take a hammer to my phone and PC. It doesn't work over a proxy, it gets to 15% download and then loses connection to the server. Bleugh - it was bad enough when i tried 20 times for Froyo before it worked, I'm really not looking forward to how many times Gingerbread is going to take.

Just root it and get it over and done with, it makes life so much easier.

Spent the whole night playing with ROMs. Prefer my own Cooked GB v2.3.3_JVO ROM with CF-Root Kernel. Made three variations with different kernels and tried Juwe v5.2 and I just didn't like it for some reason. Reminded be of Darky ROM with that colourless theme going on plus I started to like TouchWiz 4.

Will definitely have to give it a run still can't believe I waited so long to start flashing.

Hmm, have to wait till the beginning of next month to get that now.

I am still looking for a nice sms manager that group all your contacts by name and not number. Like I want a contact that has 8 numbers sms' all in one thread.

Hi guys, suddenly I get this message: Sorry! The process com.andrioid.phone has stopped working unexpectedly. Please try again. Force close.

What can I do? Please help, I'm soooo frustrated!!!

Do you have winamp installed?

If you do, uninstall it. If not, I don't know what it is.

I also get those from time to time. It is annoying (especially if you have to reenter your pin before it recovers), my only real bugbear with JVQ so far, rest is running quite nicely!
