Lol. It seems I've got new problems where kies is concerned. You see, I recently had to take my phone back to Cell C on account of a corrupted SD card (luckily I held off the rom install). The sales guy was very helpful and hooked me up with a new device in no time. However, the kies disc I got bundled was different. After an install I noticed the UI was also noticably different, so I'm assuming its a new version. So I thought what the heck, maybe I'll get lucky with the firmware upgrade. However whereas before it just wouldn't update the firmware, it now refuses to connect at all. So I guess I'm back where I started. Though I'm a bit more wary of the rom install now. What if I have to take the phone back again? Is there a quick fix to revert the device back to the way it was? Also, with regards to Darky's rom. What is up with that green tinge? Is there a way to remove it? Call me weird, but I find that tinge kinda distasteful.

MIUI Twoeey II in general is extremely rock solid when compared to Darkys 10.2 in my opinion. Battery life is far superior with heavy usage and much improved memory (RAM) management. Sadly the GUI resembles that of an iPhone however changing the launcher easily removes the look and feel of Apple :)
Theme customisation is brilliant and easily switchable as compared to other ROMS and tons of added features. Responsiveness and smoothness outperforms Darky. Unfortunately no BLN….the kernel does not support that.

Recently Twoeey III was released but found too many issues with that. Twoeey II is definitely the ROM to try….you will be amazed, guaranteed! Give it a try!

BTW: Darky Rom is merely a customised / tweaked version of stock Samsung base whereas MIUI is built directly/customised from Android open source specifically for the i9000 by some Chinese blokes. MIUI (an adaptation of Cyanogen Mod) have performance far in excess of anything that Samsung has released or ever will release I think. ;)…. Also in the news recently Samsung hired founder of Cyanogen Mod…will be very interesting to see how things change for Samsung….

Amen to that. Kies is turning an otherwise pleasant cellular experience sour for me. The SGS is a great phone, but it is kinda ridiculous that I can't even update to stock GB. Oh well, guess that's what ROMS are for...

Flashing back to a stock rom after installing Darky is extremely easy to do since the CWM recovery mod it installs allows you to backup and flash from the recovery menu.

Not sure what you mean about the green tinge? Are the colours wrong or are you talking about the theme being too green dominant?

Just Google "check fus" and stop complaining about the availability of stock ROMs. ;)

BTW - why isn't everyone not just using MIUI on their phones?

Thank you for clearing that up. Oh and, please disregard my ramblings about the green tinge. It seems that all screenshots I've seen of the Darky's UI come from the same person. (One whose theme just so happens to have that green tinge which I dislike :D)

Will look into that. Looks like the solution to my kies related problem. Though if what Iwojima says is true, I'll probably just install a custom ROM.

Camera and video playback is not as good. FM radio doesn't work. And it has more major bugs.

Performance wasn't as good as it should be on the previous Darky ROM but on the latest one (10.2) it's excellent.
 
Im running 10.2

Its really crap. Mxit force closes all the time... if i try to multitaks.

Opera mini looses all open tabs if I multitask.

Its just sucks at the multitasking. My n80 was better.


I think il MIUI and see how it goes. Just a pain to reinstall all apps.

Try flashing the RE version of 10.2.

Gave me the same issues in the end also if i had a document open with think free and the screen timed out when unlocked it would refresh the doc that was the final straw for me. Gonna stick to stock with cf kernel for a while now i think

That is why I wait till I see enough feedback from the users. I am still on 10.1

I don't really know, but its not like they can recall it etc. I do think however that we won't get official releases any more, but it would have been stopped anyway. We will just have to use custom roms then.
 
I am thinking about trying MIUI out, but I'm not sure what protocol is when you're already running a rom.

From what I read, the best way to flash MIUI is when you're on stock 2.2, but I'm on a 2.3.4 rom.

How can I go back to stock 2.2? Anyone have a sweet guide to link to me or something?

no need to downgrade. MIUI Galnet Twoeey rom requires gingerbread bootloaders which you already have. simply backup your apps, contacts and sms. If you using darky's ROM, copy Twooey II to your SD card and flash from CWM. Make sure you first wipe /system, /cache, /data, /datadata and disable any lag fixes that you might have enabled. Stick to Twooey II....its very stable and i had no issues thus far. Amazing!
 
Just a bit confused, the Galnet Getting Started page says the following:

In order to have working WiFi, SD Cards and more whilst using GalnetMIUI, you must first revert back to a FroYo 2.2.1 bootloader. Many people complain that these do not work, and later find out that they are actually using the Gingerbread (2.3) bootloader. If you are not sure about which bootloader you are currently using, it is best to follow this step before moving on to step 2.

Also could you please expand on the issues that you had with Twoeey III that made you decide that Twoeey II was better?
 
I'm running Darky 10.2 RE and must say that it is very fast and stable.

The only issue I had was that BLN wasn't working, but that was fixed by flashing a fix :D

PS. I'm not using Mxit, Opera Mini or Think Free that some of y'all are experiencing problems with. (try running SD Maid to see if it finds any problems with your phones)

Edit:
Running AutoKiller Memory using the Optimum preset also seems to speed up my phone a bit...

Lagging, Android OS battery drain, Data turns off itself after reboot. Data activity indication icons are not working, Data Monitor is not working. Wifi tethering doesn't work and my icons on the home screen keep getting moved about....

Twoeey II - EVERYTHING works flawlessly!

2.3 - if you currently have 10.2 (Darkys ROM) - you already have the latest gingerbread bootloaders...skip that step. I had no issues with SD card etc.

2.2 and below - you are on froyo/eclair...follow the steps...easy...
