YO DUDE, eventually got it from expansys. it is seriously awesome!!! you must get one, or wait for the desire HD

Which one are you using and how good/how expensive is it? I want to import SGP for myself and a friend. Read good things about them.

Some from Hong Kong off ebay. Come in a pack of 5 and cost me R35 including shipping. Brilliant ones, fit perfectly and super quality. Better than some premium ones I have had on other phones. They are called screen guard in a green and white writing. You'll find them on ebay easily

is it possible to download the entire map tiles of south africa for google maps and store on the SD card if your using google maps brut.

After reading an article about it and changing the settings the Web App of Google Reader is quite good and it's certainly better than the four RSS apps I tried. However none of this matches the Viigo App on Blackberry, but the Google Reader is okay. The music player does display some odd behaviour but it's so pretty I can forgive some of the issues I have with it. Overall I'm not disliking the SGS as much and I'm getting the hang of swype.

Doesn't Brut Navigation have an option to cache the tiles to SD? You'd then have to scroll through the route you plan on driving though to cache all the map tiles though... Tried it out last week and seemed to work. Had my phone set to only GSM so it couldn't download any map tiles...

Yeah but the option to have them all on your phone from the get go is what he means. So no Data connection is needed for it ever.

@maddmatt I installed the one click lag fix, but i dont seem to notice much speed increase, like some of you. maybe i did not install it properly? I got the XXJM1 stock rom. Waiting for Froyo next week.

also I have tried about 10 different video players, and none can play my mkv files with sound and subtitles. does anyone know of player that can do that?

The main improvement you should see is apps launch and close faster. And less "freeze ups" where the phone las for a second or two.
Some firmwares suffer from this less than others, apparently some 2.1 firmwares are pretty good without any lag fix so maybe the difference is small in your case.

HA! Finally got my SGS! I must say its a very impressive piece of hardware! Screen looks and feels awesome to the touch! Back cover, even though its plastic, also feels good! Weight is awesome, though its could have been a little heavier, but then again its perfect as it is.. Been playing around with the stock OS for a day now and so far im very impressed with android. Still working my way around it! Been working with WinMo for years, BBOS for the last year and now Android! I like the look and feel of it! Any mobile OS i can mod and change to my liking is Okay in my books! Performance on this device is awesome as well! Bit of lag here and there, but will be looking at the Froyo updates soon and some performance hotfixes!

For now, I must say im very impressed and hope this phone will keep me happy for the next two years till i upgrade again..

Let the hacking begin!! BBbooooyyyaaaaa!
