Official Thread: Samsung Galaxy S (I9000)

hi
I'm not going to read 87 pages to see if this has come up before but i have a problem with my SGS . if i have the headphones plugged in and the phone rings it mutes the sound but it doesn't ring in the headphones it continues to ring on the phone itself , i press the answer button on the headphones but nothing happens, i have to unplug the headphones and answer the phone normally. i have used the galaxy s headphones and a set from a friends blackberry but it does the same thing. Has anyone seen this problem before ??
any advice would be appreciated.
thx

It appears to be a problem, but an adaptor of some sort might work (there appear to be usb and 3.5mm jack ones), or a proper hands free set from ebay (don't know if these work as I don't have one, but they don't look horribly expensive so it might be worth a shot):

I'm really surprised it doesn't work with the standard headphones, but I don't use them very often. What version of Android are you using?

Looks like a Nokia headseat might work if you have one lying around, but you will probably still need an adaptor.

Bluetooth is probably your other option.

Actually I just tested this with my sgs, standard music player on Froyo 2.2.1 (with various other mods, but none that should affect this issue) and standard headphones and it worked perfectly.

This might be down to the version of Android you are using, not the phone itself...

Also, make sure you have your headphone jack plugged all the way in, sometimes a cover will get in the way and result in a faulty connection.

Just had the error ""unable to scan for network" and had to factory reset the phone. FAIL.

Hi all

I'm having trouble connecting to KIES and my computer. When I connect the usb to my pc, in any mode, the MTP application runs in a loop, starting over and over and over again, but never connecting to the pc. And the weird thing is that everything worked fine for the first month. I just wanna know if anybody has had this problem and if anybody knows of a fix.

Edit: Found the fix

Just out of interest sake, care to share your solution? Other people on here might have the same problem and might need a fix for it.

The problem is caused by files with an extension longer than 16 characters, don't exactly know why but they need to be deleted. In my case it was a group of files sitting in my dolphin browser folder.

thanx for the reply im still on 2.1 not rooting my phone anytime soon.
think its really stupid that they give you the headphones with the phone but it doesn't work
bluetooth isn't really an option as the phone is my mp3 player too,
guess ill just have to wait till april so i can hear how much more they are delaying 2.2

Ugh. Having issues setting up contacts, specifically synching contacts via gmail and Facebook. The telephone numbers show up, but all as 27 xx xxx xxxx. There's no "+" before the number so it doesn't work. There also seems to be no way to manually edit the number.

Same problem here.... :-/
Actually managed to lose ALL my info on the phone and completely bricked it.
Had to create a USB cable with 300ohm resistors and short out pin 4 and 5 on the USB to get the phone into download mode since I had one of those that don't want to enter recovery mode with the 3 button press...uuugh...

Ok, been searching high and low and not found what I'm looking for.

My phone reboot - stuck on the S logo.
Vibrates a couple of times and that's it.
Then goes blank after a while.

Tried taking out the battery for more than 30 seconds, etc and not helping.
Running on Froyo 2.2.1

This happened once before and I thought it was an app that screwed me over "Youtube downloader" and the only way I could get back on was with the recovery mode and having to factory reset.

I'm not in the mood for that **** again - any other advice?

Use Odin (or recovery I guess) to re-apply the firmware. Otherwise do a factory reset.

That could be caused by a system file getting currupted or messed up somehow. Using an unsafe lagfix, trying to install a theme/mod that doesn't support your firmware and/or kernel, firmware not flashed correctly, ect.

Thanks ended up using recovery for a factory reset.

Now looking for apps to backup all my apps to either the cloud or external sd.
