Habana got off that pitch in a hurry but didn't seem to be bleeding nor in any kind of pain. He called the doc straight away though so something's amiss here. That's the one thing I can't stand about the Aussie and Kiwi tv coverage - apart from their shocking camera angles they refuse point blank to commit any time to showing the opposition issues...

Habana went off to the blood-bin. The ref even asked for confirmation it was a blood-bin replacement but he must have ALSO carried an injury and so never made it back on.

I just hope it's not serious.

Fourie ripped the ball away. It is then a 22m drop out by us. Not another 10 minutes defending on our line because they decide the Aussies should get a 5m scrum! FSUK IT MAN! No damage done but imagine the Aussies scored a try! This is meant to be a bloody professional game. Get professional refs!!!!!

Be fair...the ref's were good today...they disallowed all the tries that were otherwise close, but no try.

The incident above is also correct. Genia had neither grounded the ball (otherwise you would have to accept a try), nor had his body grounded inside the in goal with the ball, and Fourie played the ball into the in goal...5 metre scrum.

In general:

South Africa had a whole bunch of tourists on the field...so don't blame PdV.

Pienaar...did he actually play?
Ndugane....iffy...good under high ball, but then doesn't release when tackled.
du Preez....very quiet, off day
Smit and Beast...back to scrumming classes...Smit especially when he tires
Botha...ineffective..had to be replaced.

Truth be told they were just playing for a bonus point....their highlights were probably Habana's two great try savers.

Good night:)

Well done on the win by the way. First the cricket, now this...:D

But the incident above isn't a correct analysis. Genia carried the ball over the in-goal area, Fourie then ripped it away and the ball was grounded. That is a 22 drop-out plain and simple. It's not about who takes the ball away, but who carries the ball over the in-goal area. It was certainly a 22 drop-out...

+1

unfortunately its small things like this that change the course of the game ... sadly we'll never know now

I agree about steyn being a better fullback than Pienaar.

I disagree with this last bit though - Francois Steyn didn't cost us those tries...

I never said or even tried to say that FS was responsible. IMO Ruaan Pienaar has no sense of positional play. They need to use him somewhere else, wonder if he will be ok as half time orange boy? Will he be able to do it.

Jokes aside, find Ruaan another position or drop him all together. Fullback and Flyhalf is now settled. Francois did more during his few minutes than Ruaan in the whole match, he (Ruaan) was never or hardly ever in position when required.

PDV must be stumped, what a lesson from a real coach. Well done OZ.

Hey Killa have you made your F1 picks yet bru??!!! China so kick off is like 5am tomorrow morning!!!!

Pienaar's only position is scrummy.

PDV has neither the capacity to teach discipline, nor to instill focus.
That's why we lost today. Maybe he will learn, but for now it's speculation.

I could care less what the boks have achieved in this tri-nations. It's days/situations like today which are key to how good we can become.

There we go, as expected the PdV bashers have all crawled out the woodwork again. We win numerous games and it is every one else's doing. We lose one game and it is all PdVs fault. ha ha.

mmmm... Losing is all part of the game. Surely you cannot expect to win every week, week after week season after season??!!!

You do realize we have won the last 5 Tri-nation games with today our 1st loss out of the last 6 starts?

You do realize SA has never, yes never beaten Australia at Suncorp Stadium??

You do realize that the last time we met Australia at the Suncorp Stadium, Jake was the coach and we lost 49-0??!!!

You do reali... arg, never mind...

You're completely off the point.

It takes a good/great coach to get the team to give the knockout punch. Now SA have to wait another game to win the Tri-nations.

We were disjointed and lost focus. And today we could have celebrated.
