The company my wife works for has a box at Ellis Park. I watched some S14 matches there & it was great.

She is already trying to organize me a few. :)

This is a crap format - the tournament could be decided more than a month before it ends.

Yes, really annoying. Newlands supporters are one of the most passionate out there. SARFU will make much more money having the game in Cape Town than in Bloemfontein...

Newlands isn't really up to international standards though, that's why it didn't get a test in the 2009 Lion's tour.

http://www.rugby15.co.za/2010/06/springbok-squad-for-tri-nations/

Springbok coach Peter de Villiers named his 28-man squad for the Tri-Nations on Saturday after his team smashed Italy 55-11 in East London.

John Smit will again lead the Boks as they set off to New Zealand for their title defence.

The Beast is back after his passport issues were resolved earlier in the week.

Butch James also retains his place in the squad.

The full squad is:

Forwards: Andries Bekker, Bakkies Botha, BJ Botha, Schalk Burger, Jannie du Plessis, Ryan Kankowski, Francois Louw, Victor Matfield, Tendai Mtawarira, Dewald Potgieter, Chilliboy Ralepelle, Danie Rossouw, John Smit(captain), Pierre Spies, Guthro Steenkamp, CJ van der Linde

Backs: Gio Aplon, Juan de Jongh, Jean de Villiers, Jacque Fourie, Bryan Habana, Francois Hougaard, Butch James, Ricky Januarie, Zane Kirchner, Wynand Olivier, Ruan Pienaar, Morne Steyn

The first match of the Tri-Nations is between the All Blacks and Springboks in Auckland on the 10 July 2010.

Backs: Gio Aplon, Juan de Jongh, Jean de Villiers, Jaque Fourie, Bryan Habana, Francois Hougaard, Butch James, Ricky Januarie, Zane Kirchner, Wynand Olivier, Ruan Pienaar , Morné Steyn.

These dreams of Aplon at Fullback: like Peterson, he is too small for the long haul. Wing, maybe. Look for him to be hurt in the first match he plays at 15 - and let's just hope it is not serious because he is a great guy.

De Villiers and James: I am not convinced but I would like to wait till after a match or two to comment. Southern rugby is physically harder and more demanding. Watch for discipline problems. They have done it before and we know that they were once capable - let's hope it is still there.

Wynand: Oh dear. My BULL allegiances aside, I noted a rather average season from him. Many incidents of butter-fingers and bad (possibly selfish) decisions and I hope that he has left those behind but I do have my doubts.

EDIT: Clean forgot about Ruan. He is that memorable that one can easily forget him completely, and I wish P-divvy would.

Andries Bekker, Bakkies Botha, BJ Botha, Schalk Burger, Jannie du Plessis, Ryan Kankowski, Francois Louw, Victor Matfield, Tendai Mtawarira, Dewald Potgieter, Chiliboy Ralepelle, Danie Rossouw, John Smit, Pierre Spies, Gurthrö Steenkamp, CJ van der Linde.

There is little criticism for this front row - some might call it a dream team. But...

Bakkies: I'd never say a bad word about him. He rocks! Toughest meanest bestest ever. Except he has been off for about 6 months and possibly should be left to warm up for the home games by playing CC - gives him a chance to settle and work up to test fitness. And not forgetting...

...discipline, together with Burger. They both have this weakness and both have been making progress. Still, it remains a minor nag at the back of my head.

What has Ryan done? Seriously? Bench-warmer of note! Where is Juan?

Beast! BEEEAAST!!!! Except, he was sidelined in the most disgusting of back-stabs. And when that happened, the team barely shook. Because his Sharks season was, at best, lackluster. One could blame the entire team, of course, but coupled with his treatment, I would not be surprised to see one of two things out of him: anger and a poor performance OR increased determination and the games of his life. I hope for the latter...

Is Chiliboy ready? By his own admission, he agreed to relegation to the Vodacom Cup league, if only to improve his match fitness. And his limited S14 appearance may suggest he is ready but, like Bakkies, I would prefer to test that at home while we await the local games. I do believe he is capable but I would just like to make sure that he is not as brittle as he once was.

Was wondering why not just host a game at the Cape Town (Greenpoint) Stadium? Surely after the World Cup the stadium will lie mostly dormant.

Everyone knows that hosting test matches at Cape Town Stadium would be great, but sadly it is currently against SARU rules. SARU 'sells' test matches, but they only sell to unions, thus to WPRU, GLRU and so on. Thus SAIL/Stade de France (the operator of CTS) cannot bid for test matches. Hopefully that rule gets overturned soon.

Where can I buy tickets for the Tri Nations game at Soccer city in August?
