Official Tri-Nations 2010 Thread

Where can I buy tickets for the Tri Nations game at Soccer city in August?

I will assume computicket, and the GLRU ticketing office, and probably Soccer City ticketing offices, but they are not on Computicket yet. I think that we will need to wait for the offical announcement from SARU and the GLRU before sales start.

Soccer City showdown for Boks, NZ

All Blacks coach Graham Henry inadvertently revealed on Friday that New Zealand and South Africa will play their Tri-Nations rugby match next month at the Soccer City stadium in Soweto.

Oh yay, so we can expect one match to be completely ruined ......

Yeah, the awful cacophony will be out in full force ....... drone ftl.

what do you mean? if that was the case the france game wouldn't have been played there

Newlands was just about the only option in SA, for that game. Newlands still has wooden benches and standing areas, and a stadium in CT should have a roof for all the spectators. As I said before, if SAIL/Stade de France were allowed to bid for tests, CT games would be at CTS.

And yet it is always packed to the rafters for good rugby.

If by good rugby you mean test matches, then yes it is packed, but Stormers Super 14 and WP Currie Cup games are not always sell outs. Also, more many can be made at Cape Town Stadium.

lol

U ain't been ther yet, have you?

What a joker.

I have been there before for Super 14 games, and I guess that some people like it for its history, but it is not a good stadium.

Been to 4 games this season. All were packed.

CT stadium is a waste, there are better things we could do with 6 blocks of prime real estate.
At least we're not as bad off as Nelspruit.

I'm sure that some games (mostly SA derbies) sell out at Newlands, but more people will attend at CTS. Also SAIL/Stad de France the company that runs CTS also partially owns WPRU, a move will happen.

Not in the next 5 years.

I went to the WeePee vs Boland stadium, nice it is, but waste of money.

It sounds very much like the Kings Park vs Moses thing here in Durban. You have a small faction saying that the rugby has to happen at the new stadium, blah blah blah and the majority saying no, rugby's home in Kzn is Kings Park.

Does the CTS also distance people from the game like Moses by any chance?

No CTS is built for football and rugby, not athletics. I should stop derailing this thread, but I feel that CTS will house the WPRU within the next few years. Moses Mabhida and KZNRU I think are less likely.

Getting the thread back on topic:

Auckland - Title-holders the Springboks have assembled in Auckland to begin the defence of their Tri-Nations crown they secured in Hamilton less than 12 months ago.
