Official Tri-Nations 2011 Thread

Don't under estimate Englands chances at this World Cup!!! They almost always arrive very well prepared...

Jip they are better in WCs than in general.

I doubt that they will win it but I won't be surprised at all if they get to the Semis without too many hic ups.

Yeah and I'll put my cock on the block from now and say England will be in the final of the 2015 RWC...

I don't know... a lot can happen in 4 years but they do look like they are putting the right structures in place atm.

De Villiers names strong Bok squad

Springbok coach Peter de Villiers on Friday named a 24-man squad featuring several players returning from injury rehabilitation for the home leg of the Tri-Nations series.

The South African Rugby Union (Saru) said six players remained on the injured list and were unavailable for selection. Three of the six players would, however, join the squad in Durban to continue their rehabilitation.

The Springboks play Australia at Kings Park on August 13 before meeting New Zealand at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth a week later.

Nine of the players who appeared in the away leg of the series have been retained, led by captain John Smit.

I like the look of this team, except for Bryan Habana. Really now? Bryan flippen Habana?

He passed his prime in 2008 already. We have far better wingers in our squad...
Who?

Personally I would have liked to see PDV continue with the squad that did duty on the away leg. The only advantage to be gained out of the last 2 tri-nations games is serious injuries to key personal and they isn't really an advantage...

Mvovo and Ndungane - I'd prefer to see either of them get game time over Habana who I hoestly don't believe will have any impact in the RWC. He was superb in 2007 but he's lost that magic...

What about Basson... hahaha :D

Agree Mvovo and Ndungane should play (Ndungane is a right wing isn't he)I would prefer none of the "1st XV" play at the moment but come the knock out stages of the World cup I know who I would want on the wing...

1st choice on the left wing would be Brian followed by either Mvovo or Basson depending on form. Right wing JP Pieterson followed by Gio Aplon. Full back Frans Steyn or Lambie, hopefully not Zane Kirchner and hopefully Frans's game is up to the tempo required cause last time he played for the Boks it was not...

Centers De Villiers and Fourie, Scrummie and flyhalf Fourie Du Preez and Morne Steyn. It's a no brainer. You have to go with the kicking flyhalf. Just about every world cup final has been won with penalties...

EDIT: Just had a look at the 24 man squad and it is strong!! Don't agree with playing some of the old and tired bullets like Victor, Danie, John and Bakkie's but if we don't run NZ and OZ close with this team we in the k uk...

My pick is ABs. But wil not be the biggest upset ever if the Aussies pull it off. Wonder what odds the bookies are giving...
