I'm getting a Smart Kicka soon, anyone looking for a brand new, un-opened still shrink wrapped Smart 4 Mini @ R777 let me know.

Please let us know if you were able to root it, I'm looking at getting one soon.

Some advice, if you will.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, i need to replace the screen, which still costs quite a bit.
So i would appreciate your opinion, repair the S2 or buy Vodafone Smart 4 mini.
I not concerned about the camera, i have an S4 aswell.

Perhaps have a look at : http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3621&idPhone2=6295

I would take the Smart 4 Mini as a replacement for the S1/S2 purely because it runs Jelly Bean 4.2.2 very smooth and is extremely affordable. As the comparison will highlight though the Smart 4 has half the storage space and half the RAM. If you are going to pop in an SD card it should be fine. The Smart 4 Mini does do 720p video recording but there is absolutely no way it's imaging capabilities compares to the S2 or S1 for that matter. As you say that does not matter for you so I would recommend the Smart 4 Mini in your case.

Thanks Rouxenator, think i am going to take your recommendation and get the smart 4 mini. And maybe one day when the screen repair is considerably cheap on the S2 i will repair it. For now i just need a good spare phone. The Samsung galaxy pocket plus is the biggest load of crap there is, and it costs more than the smart 4 mini.
As for Storage space, 8 gig SD is more than enough for me.

I'm wondering if anyone here can help me, apologies if it's already been mentioned elsewhere.

The LCD in my Smart 4 Mini has been broken, the digitizer is fine and to my knowledge the phone is still working. Does anyone know anywhere in South Africa that sells the LCD screens or somewhere in Gauteng that could repair it? I'm struggling to find anything online. I have already disassembled the phone and I'm confident I can repair it provided I can buy a new screen. Thanks for your help.

windows 7 drivers

Rooted :whistling:
Had to use a one click rooting tool made for MTK chips.

I bought this phone and am very happy with it, I just want to root it for my own evil purposes.

The problem that stands in my way is getting the drivers for the phone installed on my PC, Win 7 64 bit on AMD64.

Once I have the drivers sorted then the root proggies shouldnt be a problem.

Any advice on sorting the drivers out please guys?

Thanks

These guys were able to replace my daughter's screen on her Vodaphone Smart 4 Mini VF785. (R450). on 25 /09/2015.

Vodaworld told me they had no spares and I would have to replace the whole phone (bunch of lying C***ts).

Unfortunately the earphone jack socket has now packed up.
Cellphone repairs can't fix it. (they only do screens).
Anyone know where I can get the earphone socket fixed on a Vodaphone Smart 4 Mini VF785?

Vodafone are great value for money, they are essentially Alcatel.

I know. Phoned alcatel. they couldn't help me, said that Alcatel one touch are the distributors, phoned them, left messaged for the mobile distribution manager - no reply.

The whole Vodaphone product line is a scam - there's no repair support, but they knew this when they positioned the phones in the first place. Will never buy voda again. They can go F**k themselves.

I have bought quite a few of them, great phones. The only time I did have a problem was with a new Smart Grand (Pixi 3 5") and then despite the phone being a few months old with some scratches and marks they just gave me a brand new one still sealed in the box.

The Smart 4 Mini is more that 2 years old now and considering you broke the screen I can't really see why you blame the phone. It was good for 2014/2015 - now move on.

I'm not blaming the phone.
I'm blaming the distributors and Vodacom for not having support for the products they're selling.
When I took the phone into Vodaworld - 3 hours of my life I won't get back again... only to be told that they don't stock spares for the phone and that they can 'give' me a new one for R750. (R950 + R750 = R1700).

If they'd told me this before I bought the phone, I would've bought another brand at that price that did have local support.
Thing is, I actually didn't buy the phone, my daughter saved up her bucks to buy this phone. it's a tad disappointing, don't you think?

As mentioned, Voda / Alcatel has basically lost two clients for life.
