Official Vox DSL feedback thread

Seems something is up.... just tested YT and getting 8.3 mbps on 1080p. Weird.

Vox Telecom Maintenance Notice
Dear Valued Customer

Please take note of the following maintenance scheduled to commence on 11 June 2018.

The maintenance window is scheduled to commence at 11:00:00 PM and will affect ADSL Services in Cape Town.
Customers may experience a Brief drop in connection during the maintenance window.
Once maintenance has been completed, the responsible parties will be performing various troubleshooting diagnostics to ensure no further service impact.

Also receive a SMS which said from 11:00PM to 05:00AM

Maybe there is something scheduled for JHB too but I didn't get an email or anything.

Not as specific as the info you posted though.
 
I am also experiencing Streaming and international browsing issues this morning on Vox - Cape Town
40mb VDSL - Udemy, Youtube, Netflix all buffering every 10 seconds basically.
 
Received this sms "Vox Telecom Notice:ADSL Services. National. Customers may experience problems with no connectivity." Is this vox specific or all ISP's? What is the issue and when will it be resolved? Unfortunately not at home to see how my internet is doing

I got an eMail from them warning of the same.

I am using My Telkom account and have had no issues so far so it may be specific to VOX.

And I just got this, right now, cape town. "Vox Telecom Notice:ADSL Services. National. Service disruption is ongoing. Core Cloud engineers are still attending.. No ETTR can be confirmed at present. Further feedback will follow."
 
Vox still working on the ADSL services? Still seeing slightly elevated ping on speedtests. 32 ms vs the usual 26 ms. Not much, but not normal either. Yesterday was fine.

That looks like fibre though. I'm on OpenServe fibre + Vox and also don't have any problems, so thinking they really mean it when they say "ADSL" issues, although I thought it would be pretty much the same thing.

Can't be ADSL specific as both go through IPC, in the eyes of Vox they're both the same thing.

Don't know if this is coincidental or not, but got the same series of SMS messages. Even though I don't use Vox these days - had in the past - our ADSL and landline went down around midday on the 11th, and didn't come back up. Yesterday morning, sent the SMS to Telkom with SERVICES as subject (as indicated on Telkom account). No response. Only after going to a Telkom shop was the line & ADSL back up to how it had been for the last few years - stable in other words (after 4 more hours ; around 27 hrs downtime, in total).

The main reason for this post (in the Vox thread) is that I've received similar messages that there will be maintenance in CPT - first on the 15th, and now they've brought it forward to today, from 12noon to 5am tomorrow! Hope that what Vox is doing in CPT isn't somehow messing up Telkom in PE !

Vox - take note to leave Telkom's infrastructure alone! :o

If anyone else has experienced the same or similar in the last few days, would you please reply to this. Or if anyone knows how or why suddenly we lost line & ADSL on the same day Vox were busy with "planned maintenance".
