Oh boy...

Think u need to recalculate.
Really? I get a theoretical maximum of 1430.42GB, and a practical maximum of 1184.19GB.

I'd like to attach my workings (PDF). Can I do that?

:)
See, u got all worked up over nothing
That wasn't me worked up... You'd wouldn't like me if I got worked up. Hehe...

And technically, it was a _spelling_ error, not a maths error... *duck* :p

(and on that note... why does Telkom limit the upload rate of 4mbps ADSL to 384kbps, when it should be 1024kbps?)

Guys!
Update on this;

Telkom just sent me a SMS and it read: "Hi! Plse arrange for the outstanding Telkom internet a/c xxxxxxxx-x for gigs to be paid and confirm payment details with Donald."

Anyways, I called the number and spoke to Donald.

he wanted to know when I'll do the payment, which as you all know, I did a week or so ago.

Anyways, he tells me that I paid into the wrong account.

I told him, I went to a Telkom Direct and did the payment so it's not my fault as I gave them the invoice / statement thingy that they sent me along with the money.

Anyways, he checked my Telkom bill and said I had paid the R1700 into my actual Telkom bill not my Telkom internet account.

So... moral of the story, if you guys go and pay your bills (for local gigs) remember to make sure you pay into the correct Telkom account!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure whoever you deal with, take down their names and surnames and numbers etc so you can have ammo to take back to Telkom.

I asked him when it will reflect and he gave me this long story about it being Month end etc but he will make a note on the system.

On another note:

This whole thing freaks me out, Telkom sends SMS's?!?!!

Anyways!

Just letting you guys know!

Send him a link to this thread.

Someone I know received the same sms. Surely Telkom would've just sent another letter with "Account Adjustment" or something like that what gdiza said the last time and notify via email.

Ok so my friend forwarded the sms to me. It reads as follows:

"Please arrange for the outstanding Telkom internet a/c *********-* for gigs to be paid and confirm payment details with Donald. 011 449 3094."

Looks extremely dodgy.

Can't be a scam, he saw it was paid onto my account.
Anyways, I'll give Herman a call and see what he has to say.

He told me the exact amount himself, I just told him I did a payment of R1,700 which he said he could see but just on the wrong account.

Let's see how they handle this.

I left Herman a message to call me back, but now I'll have to wait and see.

Ok but I find it strange cos my buddy said that he didn't receive any emails or letters about this. Let us know as soon as you hear anything. Who's Herman btw?

Wise words.

A friend of mine, who is terribly organised, wrote this:

When dealing with Telkom (or other potential significant sources of stupidity) asking the Telkom person who served you to make a copy of any and all forms, and sign them, is strongly advised.

Not only does it make it much more likely that he'll do the correct things with that piece of paperwork, it also means that occasionally you'll be able to have a conversation like this one:

Me: "Why did I get an invoice for April when I came into this very office to cancel my line at the end of March?"

Telkom employee: "I'll go and check. Please hold on... Sir, I'm afraid that there is no record of your cancellation request."

Me: "That's rather odd, since it was you who helped me last time I was here, and see, right here I have a photocopy of the completed cancellation form, which you made for me, and which I made you sign, because I suspected that this might happen."

Telkom employee: "Oh."

Me: "So can I get a refund for April now please?"

Telkom employee: "Um.... may I keep that copy, so I can follow up with our accounts department?"

Me: "Nice try. Not a chance. You can make another copy of this copy though."
