I have a Ford Figo 2012 which has a the Ford Durtec 1.4 engine, I noticed this part (in the attached photos) in the engine bay next to the windscreen water bottle just behind the passenger side front light. It seems to be leaking some kind of oil but I am not 100% sure what it is. The small hose beneath seems to originate from the gearbox.

So what exactly is it and should I be concerned?

I know any breather is obviously higher up - so when you drive through water it doesn't get in.
It should have a valve for that reason, I think on my car is right on the gearbox itself, but it does make sense to be at a higher position anyway.

Thank you. Now I know what it is. But it is leaking more than usual and I can see oil running slowly at the bottom of my car coming from this breather pipe. I cleaned the pipe and the area then checked again after a few kms (less than 100kms) and there was oil again. It does not seem as if there are any leak in the pipe itself and it is coming from the top of the pipe where the plastic cover connects to the body.

My water coolant (which is orange/red colour) however is a bit low but still higher than the min (less than half between min and max) when I look at the bottle. Does the coolant cool down the gearbox as well and can it cause the gearbox to overheat when it is too low as well?

If it is leaking more than the usual then it is faulty, I think it should be some sort of a valve.

No, the coolant cools the engine.

Gearbox breather drip sensor or something like that?

Lots of random turkish forums, ebay sales and reddit threads (I am not a mechanic).

Also, sounds like the pipe may be cracked then you can cut pipe shorter and reattach the thing.
