That is just shocking!

As a regular user of open proxys in a previous lifetime [}] I always wondered what sort of idiot would setup a proxy that is open to anyone that discovers it (and then publishes it so everyone, everywhere then knows about it!!!).

Now I know!

Open proxies have been used a lot by people wishing to surf anonymously and in places such as Saudi Arabia that are subject to strict censorship where the government (attempts to) control what is accessible and what is not from networks within their borders (in particular, they block pornographic and politically controversial sites).

It wouldn't suprise me if the lion's share of our bandwidth is being pilaged by non-MyWireless subscribers in this manner.

Sentech has as yet not been notified. Considering that I haven't been notified about the exact nature of my now 2 month old "speed-complain-ticket" at the helpdesk, I don't quite feel it's neccessary.

lewstherin, I doubt it's the software upgrade they mentioned, but I'm sure as hell wondering now if IPWireless will slap these dumb ****s upside the head wasting their time and money on something as simple as this.
