Olarm zone bypass issue on DSC panel

Question if I want to power the NodeMCU from the USB side I just don't connect the +/Gnd from the DSC right? Or does it have to be powered from there for the clock?

And if so, how important is the 5v voltage regulator because i didn't get one :(

You will fry it, the alarm puts out 12v. Also the ground is not negative on the alarm, use the - connection.
 
Just realized I missed the 10k resistors too lol. It will have to wait till tomorrow i'll order some now along with the voltage regulator.
