I want to put more RAM into a old laptop Dell Inspiron 1100 that only has two 128Mb PC2100 currently.
It only has two slots.

Where can I get 2 PC2100 512MB PC2100 DDR SODIMM?

PC2100 is DDR226Mhz

I don't won't to pay much so is it possible to use any DDR1 RAM with that motherboard as DDR-400 will easier to find in that size compared to DDR-266. I am looking to not pay more than R500 for it.

Damn, I've got a 512MB PC2100 desktop stick, pity you need notebook RAM!

It generally is possible to run higher freq RAM, it usually just downclocks to the speed of the slowest stick or speed the motherboard supports. You can only really ever know until you try though. You should be able to get 512MB for around R200.

I would test with DDR400 as it should work and it will be cheaper to buy.

Sybaritic & Prophecy etc sells this.
