Olivedale Exchange

yeah same problems as everyone for the last two weeks actually (not just this weekend) and i think im on the douglasdale dslam. i think our douglas dslam has more sever problems, but this weekend was a lot better, although still having heavy packet loss resulting in poor latency at stages in online gaming. which gets very frustrating. but has improved substantially over the weekend
 
Mines been fine since yesterday 5ish...like semaphore...maybe they still busy or maybe its just you anyway if its not working your gonna have to log it and wait..
 
Well my call also still needs to be investigated but like my last issue with my line is automagickally sorted itself out. And when i ask telkom what the problem is they go .... "eeeeeeee, i dont know."
 
Spoke to a technician just now, apparently there are some damaged cards in the exchange and they are busy replacing them, but there are still lines that are having problems.
 
Yes, my problems disappeared on Saturday morning and it's seemed pretty stable since then :)

Howzit guys some good news :)

This problem started on the Friday the 19th of March... There where numerous problems but all was resolved by Monday 17:30. The Douglasdale Mini Exchange has 91 4MB ADSL users we were all affected because the connections kept on "freezing" not actually dropping. That issue was resolved on Saturday when Telkom replaced the Faulty E1 cards in the mini exchange. The big problem however was caused by the Olivedale Exchange. The STM cards were not configured correctly and the equipment used were all on different firmware revisions. I know this only because I spent the whole weekend with my Service manager from Telkom to have it all resolved. My house was a mini Telkom office with all the people trying to find the issue... :) Olivedale Exchange was reconfigured and updated with the latest Software and firmware revisions.
I'm glad to report the following.

Ping to international servers is down from 580ms to 245ms
Download speeds are up from 192Kb/s to 412Kb/s
jitter less than 2ms....

A big thank you to Telkom and particularly my Service Manager for working the whole weekend to resolve the issues we've been plagued with once and for all!

Hi, I'm in the same area and have also been experiencing issues with my line, with packet loss rates of around 15%. Hopefully these issues have been resolved now, I do notice that my packet loss is less now. I was wondering do you guys find that the packet loss is worse during the week specifically during business hours?
