Olivedale Exchange

going to go mental on telkom.. get a sms at 19:40 saying my line is fixed.. yet nothing has changed still crappy speeds give telkom a call asked them what exactly the guy did oh no all they cant tell me is he worked on it for 2 hours thats all. most likely went home and claimed overtime for 2 hours 25 days for a fault to be fixed and yet im back at square one

Was still down this morning when i left, phoned to log a call, was told a technician is busy on the exchange and ETA for completion is 28th. they did do a test on my line and said it was up at the time, but it could go up and down as they work. I am hoping they upgrading the exchange or at very least move me to a faster port.

But if they were upgrading surely more people would be affected. I'm in NorthRiding
 
yeah like i said been fighting with them for 4 weeks now...after 5 0 clock i get a great speed of 0.5Mbps on a 4meg line cant do anything...and for some strange reason nobody at telkom can understand that at night time the internet is slow they always do test in the day time and i explained myself about 5000 million times you will only pick it up at night but they just to brain dead to understand whats your first couple of digits ? mine is 011 462 ....

EXACT SAME ISSUE!!! I'm so fed up it's just not funny! And they keep closing the ticket it's driving me mental! I'm on the willows exchange. This has been going on for over a month. :cry:
 
Well i have a called logged that wont get closed. My line has been fine for a couple months, when i try log a call it says there is a call logged

and what pisses me off the most nobody will be honest and tell us whats the problem

My line was up when i got home, everything seems good so far. my line also starts with 011 462
 
Ok update for you guys on the exchange... eventually a telkom guy contacted me,

The exchange is congested, when they going to upgrade the exchange he does not know but apparently it is in the budget, so there is nothing more they can do till it get upgraded....good times...
 
I haven't gotten any response. My question is how long till they sort it out. Also why not throttle people accordingly to reduce strain on the exchange till its sorted out :(
 
I applied for an uncapped 10MB line, I live in Olivewood estate, so i assume it is also on this Olivedale exchange. waited 10 days, heard nothing, so i called them and was told sorry, insufficient infrastructure, and that i should look elsewhere for a solution as this specific exchange didn't even have a date set for the planning guys to meet regarding upgrade. FFS

I feel for you guys who are on the Olivedale exchange! I used to live in Bellairspark and my Telkom phone line was connected to Olivedale exchange. It was faulty more often that it worked, and I eventually cancelled all Telkom services at the Telkom office in Fourways. My account was in credit to the tune of R140, and they said they would refund this to me. After over a year of still receiving a Telkom account showing my credit of the R140, I still could not get refunded ... the Telkom office in Fourways just kept saying they don't have cash on the premises.

I then retired to the Western Cape, and applied for a Telkom landline at my new house in WC .... imagine my surprise when Telkom here said I still owe them R140! So their system had changed the credit on my account to a debit. I gave up with Telkom as a lost cause, and we put the new landline, and the Telkom ISP ADSL access, into my partners name.

Living here is the WC is not all rosy, i.r.o. if I need to get to a Telkom shop ... the nearest is 125 km away in Worcester WC! So a 250 km round trip at a fuel cost of currently +/- R350
 
I dont understand telkoms attitude, they making a killing of that exchange at olivedale there are so many adsl people connected to it yet they got a f you attitude to their customers
 
What number is Olivedale exchange?

My 4mb in Northriding is horrible - can't stream anything but the weird part is speedtests give 3.5mb down. I thought streaming was throttled or but as it has been for ages, but Googling and browsing are also slow.
 
Is any one still having problems with the olivedale exchange?
I used to sync at 10mbps but then about 2 mounts ago I started having a lot of problem and at the moment I can only get 4mbps stable.
 
my line (dsl & phone) has been down since Wednesday :( logged a fault on Thursday and still waiting

phoned in now and they said its a cable problem with no ETA on when it will be fixed :( :( :(

im on the meadowbrook exchange
 
I have no idea what the hell they are doing but i saw them installing fibre by north riding seconday school and beliars the past 2 weeks some outsource company so maybe they upgrading everything to fibre in our area
