OMG I hate arrogant tanks

aaaaah, wait till you get to Halls of Reflection HC. Makes your panties tremble and its hard work. Your aoe tanking needs to be top notch and be ready to taunt those pesky ranged units. (dps normally do the tab pew pew, aoe, tab pew pew aoe kind of dps in there)

Oh don;t worry, already did it the 1st day the patch came out on my Pala as tank. On my 1st run in there we jumped into HC instead of normal. I had no idea what to expect but we only wiped once, and it was not on the tunnels :) Upgraded my DPS 2H and 1H tanking weapon in that 1st run. Hilt also dropped for another character. But that was with guildies so I expected it to be good :)

Well, had the jerkoff tank experience last night on my mage. 45k paladin tank and his healer buddy join into Halls of Stone and they chain pull everything nonstop. Not much fun as a mage, just spamming blizzard and getting little chance to mana up. On the second boss - Maiden of Anguish - they both bail before the 'gauntlet' bit, i guess they were just in it for the easy emblems and simply bail before the unpleasant bit. Prompytly leaving 3 dps who actually want to finish the run stuck up shiet creek.
Luckily we got a nice, friendly DK tank who was tanking in dps spec but with dps gear and did just fine, and a healer soon after and cleared the last two bosses effortlessly.

Lesson learnt? Class , gear, none of it matters. Only attitude.

It's the tanks responsibility to set the pace, and it's his job to judge how fast he/she is able to proceed through an instance. We are well beyond the "honeymoon" phase of casually enjoying the instance and the goal these days is to finish as quickly as possible. So if your only complaint is that the tank is pulling too fast, yet you still have enough mana/time to consciously decide to "let the tank die" then it is you who is failing and not the tank. If healers and dps are struggling to keep pace with then tank then sure he is probably going too fast, but being a tank myself, I often find people tend to arb around between pulls and healers thinking they need 80% mana for every trash pack.

It does take a little experience to know how far to push but I often finish heroics now in under 20mins without having anyone die.

Also lets not forgot the rather large tank to just about everything else ratio which must be about 1:10 if not more, so every extra min you keep a tank in your group, is a min extra someone else's group has wait for one.

So rather than bitching about all these "arrogant" tanks, go roll your own and start filling out the tank shortage. :)

I haven't found any arrogant tanks yet, I've only come across fail tanks in blues and greens with 25k hp expecting to run ICC hcs.

I've experienced the chain pulling tanks rushing through hc's, and I've also experienced the 38k mana pally healers that can cope with just about any pull

The new lfg system brought the best and the worst pve players from the other realms.
If its too much, rather go hc farming with your guild

I love the chain-pulling tank ... finish the heroic in next to no time :D

I have no problems with tanks chain pulling IF they can keep aggro. But when a tank chain pulls and the rest of the party gets damage and I have to keep up healing him (and everyone else taking loads of damage per trash mob) then I would love a break to mana up.

Hell, I'd love to just be able to loot now and again! It appears that DPS have the "luxury" of staying behind and looting while I have to keep up with the tank otherwise he dies...

Failtank is failtank. Fail is bad in any position it's just more evident when it's the tank or healer. :(

Man, trying to hold aggro versus a fury warrior in ToGC25/ICC25/Relentless gear is NOT FUN. And when deeps seems to get this level of gear and start pushing 5, 6k+ dps in 5mans, they seem to turn into the biggest, most elitist jerkwads ever. 'gogogo tank, puuuull, omg lrn2aggro' etc. Sigh.

The tank shortage is only going to get worse, as people try tanking, get steamrolled by overgeared and retarded dps that have zero patience, and then simply switch back to dps themselves.

Fail is bad in any position
The lack of room for failure for a tank is about 100 times higher than for dps. If a tank doesnt pop the right cooldown at the right time and dies, it's a wipe. If dps pulls aggro or stands in a fire and dies, life goes on, the boss will probably still go down.

Statement is inaccurate. Faildps is everywhere and people generally shrug it off - they're used to it. Failtank, though, gets remembered.

And people wonder why there's so few of them around.

well I a tank geared to tank anything from ToC25 or lesser instances. Dps cant kill boss kuk tank. Healer cant keep keep the tank up, you guessed it kuk tank. Well I said screw that and re-rolled to a Warlock. Pew pew move from fire Pew Pew

Yeah. The last few weeks pugging heroics every day has more or less erased any notion i had of tanking in a main capacity. Thanks goodness I have my mage hanging around (think i might play around with a frost pve spec for lulz). It might not be as challenging, but it's sure as hell a lot less stressful and annoying.

Let those little bitches whining about the '*** tank', roll one themselves.

I've had similar problems on my Healadin, they overaggro, and expect me to keep them up as well
