Once-off offer - Seagate SATA Drives

Mods please bear with me. This is not a money-making scheme for me. I get nothing out of this. It is just a heads-up for the members of MyBB.

I have a friend who previously supplied me with Western Digital Drives who now has new stock of Seagate drives. They come with a standard Warranty (three years I think). As far as he knows they are not any of the problematic drives, but he can supply you with serial numbers if you want to check.

This is what he has... not sure how much of each.

320 GB = R460
500 GB = R660
1000 GB = R1240

he is in the Southern region of Joburg.

if you are interested PM me and I will send you his contact details. Maybe some of you can get a good deal out of this. If you are interested, then great. If not, then don't worry about it.

Veering off topic; I really think Seagate are going to have a difficult time convincing people to trust their drives after what happened.
 
Call me ignorant....but what happened? I have a Seagate 320Gb SATA that makes odd noises every now and then. It even crashed 6 months ago wiping out 80% of my data.

And you still use it? That's asking for a bruising dude. Seriously, take it back and swop it under warranty. If a drive crashed once, it will crash again.
 
Faulty drive firmware, you can get it replaced if it has the right serial number
 
Dealers are now starting to ask for a premium on Western Digital drives that compete with Seagate.

Seagate made a huge error of judgement when they refused to recall all the faulty drive models.
 
I'll dl and flash with new firmware tonight. I bought the drive off a friend/supplier of mine at half price, so I wasn't too worried at the time.

Why should they if it is only a firmware upgrade required? Think motherboards, GPU's, etc. Their reputation took a slight dent thats all IMHO.

If I rack in some cash, I would buy. Just a simple firmware update if the serial is listed with Seagate.

I wouldn't buy a Seagate again... my 120GB sata seagate let me down... its running at 52 degrees C atm... So there is something wrong...

Fan, most drives nowadays requires a fan. It will cool down in seconds.
