Oneplus 5

When you order from oneplus.net US, and use a reshipper like Aramex, I take it you will get nailed with US state taxes as well?

Yeah, there's nothing normal about that. Think I'll be holding out for the 5T. 3T only 6 months old anyway and still loving it!

OnePlus dropping the ball somewhat with their latest flagship?! Disappointing...
It's the usual brand new OnePlus pains. The OP3 also had its own problems when it was released.

I think it is best to wait for the T, it seems those tend to fix all that is wrong with the original.

This is really typical of all OEMs though, I mean the S8 also had issues in its first few weeks of release.

Yeah, agreed. I'm a bit irked by the mixed reviews pertaining to the camera performance on the 5 though. They've been punting the camera and it has fallen well short of the hype. No doubt it will improve with firmware upgrades but they came to market a bit under cooked in that department.

Also their claim that the jelly effect is natural? WTF? Nothing natural about it and why does it only effect a few phones if that's the case? Should effect all? Disappointing response. Denying a problem exists is the quickest way to lose customers faith. Looks like a software issue to me. Animation anomaly baked into the OS?

Indeed!

Here's hoping they do bring the Camera up to scratch with all the hype.

Their PR is still terrible, I don't understand why they don't have a process with dealing with complaints when major issues arise. I believe they have now changed their tone and say they will fix it, lol:

The OnePlus 5 is not worth the upgrade if you're already on the 3/3T;

I think they've dropped the ball with the 5. Hoping the 6 is a worthy update. :(

Lol, they need to fix, period!

They only 3 years old as a company and one with limited resources. Compared to the likes of Apple and Samsung they a pimple on the a$$ of a rhinoceros!

Yeah, look, personally I would love to get the 5. Think the 5T will be their next release?

Seen a few speed comparisons and it's quite a bit quicker than the 3T which is quite something given the nippiness of the 3T.

I think if they can get the camera software to where it should be, it will be a cracking camera. EIS on 1080p 30fps video footage is pretty damn good. The front facing camera is outstanding too!!

Coming from Apple I can't complain about the styling of the 5 either but I really thought they did an amazing job on the 3/3T. My sister has a 6 plus and I've always found it big and cumbersome in hand so I was quite surprised when I realized my new 3T was actually a 5.5" screen, same as the 6 plus but with a 73.6% screen to body ratio vs the 67.8% of the plus!! Unreal what a difference it makes!

So from that POV I'm a bit disappointed that OnePlus haven't stuck with an exclusive OnePlus look for their 5 but content that if they going to copy, it's the 7 that they've copied. Having said that most reviews claim it is beautiful fit and finish and lovely in hand so.... a bit slippery though so a pouch/cover is a must..

Over the past day or so an issue*with the OnePlus 5 has hit the headlines*— “Jelly Scrolling.” While it’s not a deal breaker for some, it’s*causing many to contemplate returning the device until it’s been fixed. Unfortunately, it looks like that won’t be happening as the cause has been discovered — the display is mounted upside-down.
Oh OnePlus can't wait for their reply to this one...

Well this jelly problem just ruined my idea to buy this phone. Pity.

Nah, sure it will be resolved either via a software fix or hardware fix on next batch of manufactured handsets.

Most users don't seem to be affected. And the upside down mounting was a deliberate design choice to fit the camera module, so all devices have upside down panels. Which means it shouldn't be an issue and some other anomaly is causing some of them to be jelly. I'll know if mine has issues when I get it shortly after the 10th.

I saw that this weekend, thank goodnees I've not ordered the 5.... I'll be going for a 3T, it has more than enough for what I need out of a mobile phone

The jelly scrolling hardly affects anyone, and the OP5 is a much nicer device than the 3T. I wouldn't buy into the hysteria some tech sites are trying to create.
