Oneplus 5

The jelly scrolling hardly affects anyone, and the OP5 is a much nicer device than the 3T. I wouldn't buy into the hysteria some tech sites are trying to create.

My problem is I tend to keep phones for a while, so if it does affect me it will be a huge issue for me. Importing the phone means I can't return it easily. 6GB RAM + 128GB storage is fine for me, so I'll stick to the 3T. Cheaper as well

If mine has a scrolling issue and OnePlus doesn't acknowledge the issue and offer a software fix, then I'll just sell it locally. OnePlus phones have good resale value. My bro got R5k for his OP3. OP5 could get R7-7.5k easily I think. Not a high risk investment.

TakeAlot.com might stock the phone soon, but the 3T is not a bad phone, it actually looks better.

I ordered the oneplus 5 from aliexpress today. Will let you know when it arrives. Will be my first Android phone, moving from an iPhone 6.

Oooh, nice man, congratz!! How much it set you back? And who's covering the shipping?

I ordered from Souq yesterday - 3T, about R6600. Shipping, customs excl. Bang for buck, you can't beat R6600 for the spec of the 3T. Doing re-shipping with Aramex

Sure it will be fine. It sounds like not all users were affected by it

Imagine we had a half decent exchange rate? Like R6/$? R3k?

Wasn't that long ago...

Indeed... we get raped with all our imported goods, cars and tech. Not to mention the local network operators raping us with data charges. I was on a MTN contract, contract is done, so porting to prepaid and over to Afrihost now.

A lot more than I expected :(
USD635 excl. customs and dhl costs. +/- R8600
It's for the 128GB.

Ordered from this store
Weird, just looked at the POPhong store. $579 for the 8GB. They also have the 6GB for $482, i.e. basically no markup vs US price. Or $516 incl original glass protector and case, which looks like the best choice.

Looks like the price was reduced since I placed my order.
I think the price on oneplus.net site is $539 for the 8GB.

Decided to pull the trigger yesterday. 6GB/64GB version with original Sandstone cover and glass protector from POPhong. Couldn't justify the price difference for the 8GB version to myself...hope I don't end up regretting it.

Now for the wait...

I also went with the 64GB version. My OnePlus One has 64GB storage too and it's been more than enough. May as well just save the money, and price is generally the reason to buy OnePlus devices anyway.

What transportation you using? Family travelling back from the UK with my OP5 on the 10th this month.

Why the sandstone cover? The kevlar one looked badass, which is the one I chose.

I decided to get the 128GB, mine was delivered in the USA a few days ago, and has now been shipped to SA.

My order arrived in SA Friday morning. It's been cleared through customs. Should be delivered on Monday. Total fees paid on landing was R495
