Oneplus 6

Just looked up the latest schedule:
http://www.sars.gov.za/AllDocs/Lega...im-Tariff-2012-06 - Schedule No 1 Part 2B.pdf
(URL indicates 2012, but document has 2018 in header)

If that's correct, the duty has been reduced from 14% to 9%.

Unless someone along the way has mislabelled the items being imported (technically a crime, and risks confiscation if discovered), there's no avoiding the duty and VAT.

To update the earlier estimate of mine:

Import duty: $623.90/R7798 x 9% = R701.82
VAT on new total: (R7798+R701.82=) R8499.82 x 15% = R1274.97
DHL consignment fee: R200 (or more)
Total: R2176.79

Added to $695/R8686.67 is a grand total of R10 863.46.

I don't see how the amount won't be that at a minimum when not ordering from Amazon.

Ouch R11k....my r12k brand new sealed S9 plus purchase on gumtree is beginning to look even sweeter now without me having to compromise on wireless charging and water proofing or having to wait and pray my imported OnePlus arrives,2 weeks in now and the s9 plus camera is truely wow especially in low light conditions it sees better than the human eye sees.I'm loving this phone.

I ending up paying R9.6k including shipping and customs.

Thou shall not ask questions about customs.

I'd sooner pay R12k for a OP6 than an S9+ though. OnePlus phones have much better battery life, are bloat-free, get system updates months faster and are lightning fast in general. I can't tolerate what Samsung does to Android.

ai, this guy has that stupid wallpaper on s9+m that's what slows that down. I had it on, looks great, but the animation is just too slow so disabled it.

Looks like a standard blue wallpaper?? Imagine that, a R12k on gumtree flagship felled by a wallpaper?!! :p

Yip 100%

No, it's the infinity wallpaper which has animation, which is slow. The OnePlus had buggerall animations, hence the speed. It's not rocket science

The Oneplus does have animations, sorry to burst your bubble This is what it looks like with no animation....

How does a slow wallpaper animation effect the opening and closing of apps? I don't follow...

I've had a live wallpaper on my OP5 pretty much since I got it. No performance or battery issues.

Great, not the same thing though. An infinity wallpaper have an animation that transitions from te lock screen to the homescreen. And it's slow AF

sure. but that was what i was referring to. i would love to see both with animations disabled with the same speed test
The OP unlocks quicker than anything on the market. Wont matter what wallpaper you use on the S9. Whether fingerprint sensor or face unlock it's insanely quick to unlock.

Would be nice to see Speedtest conducted with all animations off, for sure. Would be a more accurate comparison but wouldn't reflect out of the box experience and users generally leave those settings on stock.

So I was right then? R12k (on gumtree) flagship felled by love wallpaper?
