Oneplus 6

hi guys
what cases are you guys using with you Oneplus 6?
anyone got the Otterbox?
anyone waiting on the Spigen unit?

also heard not so great things about the official OP tempered glass protector
is there any others you would recommend as im thinking of either the Otterbox case or holding for the Spigen

anybody used the Poetic?

Accessories is always a mission, very little to nothing stocked locally. The Otterbox commuter looks solid but isn't compatible with the OP screen protectors. Might still be worthwhile as it offers the next level of protection. I'd be prepared to use the phone without a screen protector if sheathed in the Otterbox.

Spigen are usually brilliant. Love their clear cases. Which one is on the way?

otterbox looks nice and I had one previously with my HTC
wanting Spigen one as quite a few websites say they are making one due out soon sometime

Nillkin as well! I'm using a white Nillkin on my 5T currently. Love it. Get's dirty quickly though but very easy to clean. Has a textured finish which gives it lots of grip. Thin cover, not bulky at all. My only concern might be the level of protection it offers...

Yeah we did, awesome man, yeah, OP6 is a frigging beautiful device but judging by that drop test I posed earlier, not very robust. A case is imperative!!

I'm considering getting the silk white. Got my OP5 up for sale over at Carbs for around R6k. If I can offload before next week Tuesday I'll jump on a OP6. Not urgent though. 5/5T/6 not a whole lot differentiating the 3 in times of actual performance and software. In fact I was quite happy to wait for the 6T until I saw the silk white. That design and colour is just fantastic!!

Dunno, the durability seems pretty good from the OnePlus factory videos people have made showing the drop test machine using a marble surface. In general though, cases are a good idea if damage means international shipping.

Collecting a silk white OP6 later this evening...

Notch sucks. Gees, I've always felt impartial to it but now in practise it's painful. Using the software tweak to hide it.

Okay, the hiding the notch has implications for the custom launchers I use. No longer hiding it but a little more used to it this morning.

As some of you will know my favourite launcher is Squarehome2. It's a windows style launcher. The screen on the OP6 is rather rounded at the top and bottom so a square tile layout doesn't really correlate. I'm pretty bummed about that!!

Not much more to report at this stage. The screen seems a lot brighter than my 5T, the phone is incredibly quick, noticeably quicker than my 5T, camera also appears a significant improvement on the 5T. I wasn't expecting to notice the improvements in these categories.

Why does it suck in your opinion?

Get's in the way and is distracting! It's like having a dead pixel on the screen! :p Imagine your car windscreen without your rear view mirror in the middle of it. :p

It has implications for every launcher and homescreen setup I use. I need to reconsider my layout. Squarehome2 is totally screwed by it but I guess that would please you.

I prefer to hide it but when using nova it causes a not very fluid action when pulling down the notification bar.

Just in general it absolutely screws up any sense of symmetry.

Look, I'll work around it and get used to it I guess, but, man, it's actually crap!!

so things disappear behind the notch then?

Yeah, under normal circumstances your status bar, in some apps, is sometimes transparent, other times it's hidden from site completely and some times it's a solid bar. The notch is always there in some form or other. Don't underestimate how that can effect the end user experience. I now understand how it has such a polarizing effect among consumers.
