Oneplus 7T and 7T Pro

I received mine this morning. Pretty happy with it so far. It's a nice upgrade coming from the OnePlus 6.

Only question: under developer options > Memory, do you also see 7.8GB?

quick on the draw there, I have not enabled developer options but I would guess that there is a portion of ram reserved for the system.

That's impressive! I have the Gcam module installed. Haven't really had a chance to put it through its paces but the Gcam module, loosely (or not loosely) based on what the Pixel phone ships with, generally out perform the Oneplus's native camera app...

Shot a non potrait selfie at lunch today...

Stock Oneplus...

Gcam 7.3.018 Urnyx05-v2.1
Can you drop the link to the Gcam apk you used please. Prefer one thats been tested already.

Mine also arrived today. Must I do anything special to activate the sim card? It's currently installed but no signal/empty triangle and trying to dial out says 'no service'.
Think they activate within 24 hours...

If one already has a Vodacom sim card and number, do they still send a simcard with the phone? If i want to reuse my current number and they mess it up can they transfer the contract to my current number?

My application is still in a pending state, my docs only got loaded today supposedly.

Sounds like they got more stock in, so there's still hope.

mine was over a week in the pending state, their confirmations team has a backlog.

there is still hope.

I also ordered a few along with cases a year ago when I got my 7 pro. I fail terribly when it comes to applying screen protectors. Particularly difficult on a curved screen. I paid around R800 for one that I screwed up on applying and basically used it for a couple of hours before removing.

If I change the stock screen protector, I'm going to take it to a cell provider and let them apply it.

Ended up buying these locally. Not great but did the trick. Not easy to apply if you doing it for the first time and then the air bubbles that accumulate, you have to be careful what you use and the amount of pressure you exert getting them out as the plastic is kind of malleable.

Would you recommend getting these as backups for the 7T Pro, if the factory applied one breaks?
Will they fit the 7T Pro appropriately?
Or are their others you'd recommend instead?

The physical form factor of the 7 Pro and 7T Pro is identical afaik, barring the auto focus laser on the rear...

I've tried others and failed at installing them correctly. These ORZERO ones are far from perfect and I've often been grateful that they come in a pack of 3 cause I usually need a practice run! They seriously complicated if you don't watch and follow the online tutorial. Once you get the gist of how to apply them, they quite easy and actually have quite a premium feel to them.

Trapped air bubbles disappear on their own but there is always the temptation to keep trying to push them out manually. That pushing damages the screen protector. I've fallen into that trap every time!!

For the price I would recommend them, definitely. But if you got R500-R800 to drop on a decent tempered glass screen protector and you back yourself to apply it correctly, go for that rather...

Guys, I did the JTools method (no root) and it's working perfectly, no notifications. For what it is worth, I used the same procedure on my OP7 (here).

Really tempted to pull the trigger after this post.
Either 8T, 8 Pro, or this 7T Pro.
Might go 8T because of the size of the other 2.
@SandMan your input .....

Guess it all comes down to cost. I wasn't in the market for an upgrade this year at all. 7 pro is still going strong and it's been a s hit year financially but @R399 over 24 months, it made sense for me to upgrade and push my pro onto my daughter who lives on her phone and loves her 6 and equally will love the 7 pro. Her 6 is 30 months old so an upgrade is due.

@Leisure Larry what you currently using?

Im not sure if size should be your motivating factor either way as within a week you'll be used to whatever you decide on. Not like your looking at something the size of a iPhone 12 mini. The size difference is negligible.

8pro is a beast, no doubt but what's that going to set you back? 18k at least in a lump sum payment v R399 over 24 months? 8 pro will run rings around 7t pro but it's nowhere near twice as good.

8t is a decent middle ground. Again all depends what it's going to cost all on.

For me cost was the primary driver. R9600 over 2 years is a lot more palatable than dropping R13-R18k lump sum.

I'm yet to spend more than 10k on a OnePlus.
