Oneplus 7T and 7T Pro

Got myself the 7T Pro about two weeks ago upgrading from my Samsung S8. Had a strange issue where I couldn't setup the phone. It would error out and I couldn't sign into Google. Did soft-reset and it was working after that.

So far it's been a brilliant phone, already used to the weight and size. So far my only issues is finding a good cover without having to order online and YouTube doesn't work nicely when you want to watch while on whatsapp and it goes to that small view mode. I normally use UAG covers as they have served my old phones really well (0 cracked screens) but I can't find any.

had to switch to wireless earphones of course, using the Sony WI-C200 which have been really nice and I'm very impressed with the battery life. I use them for 7-8 hours a day and normally end up with 70% battery left at the end of the day.

Enjoying the phone so far. Battery life is not great though but charging speed is terrific.

I have resolution set to auto and refresh to 90. When does then phone boost resolution because it does not when on YouTube?

Also what Password manager are you guys using? Does 1+ have its own?

Got one of these glass screen protectors fitted at a store upstairs at greenstone mall. R250 all in. Very cool. Now if I can just remember the name of the store. It was at the a$$ end of the mall, East end. It's for the swing S20 plus but fits beautifully on the 7T Pro. Useful going forward if you can't find accessories specifically for the phone.

COVID certainly causes delays in express parcel movement. My Amazon order (with Christmas presents for my wife and kids in it, along with my 7TPro cover and screen protectors) is almost with me in Durban but has had it's fair share of travels along the way :)

Yeah, I see it too. Doesn't look too major an update. Think I'll hold off till I can confirm it won't kill root... I've seen reports of at least one user who has lost wifi post rooting... XDA... also TWRP is super glitchy on the 7T series so no custom recovery to root from....

Are you using auto brightness? Battery life is okay... a little better than the 7 Pro but certainly nowhere near best in class...

I have my resolution set to QHD+... how do you know if the resolution has been boosted or not, when choosing auto? I can select 1440p within the Youtube app, if the video I'm watching is recorded in 1440p. Is that the same thing?

I'm one of these cretins that has 1 massive password which is applied just about across the board... if anyone hacks just one of my many accounts, they can basically end me....

Battery life has been good for me. Easily get through a day and end the day with 20-30% with 90hz on.

On Youtube if will only display 90hz if the video is actually 90fps. Most videos are 30 to 60 fps.

I have been using Bitwarden for a while and it works great

Yes auto brightness, auto resolution, 90Hz

Okay I think mine does not show 1440p on YT when in auto I must check again.

When logging into apps and it shows fingerprint login available, thats the app offering this accesibility right not android?

I tried lastpass and it immediately showed up as a critical issue on my Google account :(

Correct. You can password/fingerprint protect access to apps on your phone through settings>utilities>app locker...

I've actually switched to FHD+, want to see if I can notice any difference in general, day to day use. Battery life should improve significantly and the few articles I've read comparing QHD to FHD suggest that the difference is barely noticeable.

Nope. I set resolution to QHD.

Bitwarden is a really good password manager. It is free and open source. I am using an Outlook account with it.

I average between 5-6 hours screen on time on QHD + 90hz.

The screen auto regulates 90hz so will only display it in some apps.

With jOnePlus tools you can force 90hz in all apps but this will definitely impact battery life.

I tried FHD but immediately notice the difference which bothers me. I don't think it makes that big of a difference.

IMO if your screen can do QHD why not use it to its full potential

Yeah, with battery life it's swings and roundabouts...

I prefer to force 90hz, as refresh rate for me is most noticeable where FHD v QHD, mmmmm, not sure yet.

Traditionally I've gone with 50% screen brightness but now am trying auto brightness. That takes quite an adjustment but the trade off is not insignificant re battery drain.

Also, for 80% of the time I've been a smart phone user I've used light/white settings/theme. And for the balance dark mode! That too makes a significant impact on battery drain.

I think one can become quite obsessive about battery drain and managing it and that certainly detracts from the enjoyment one gets out of using their smart phone. As long as one is getting through the day, I don't see the point in trying to prolong that to 2 days by putting every battery saving measure in place. But having said that I quite enjoy the challenge of trying...

The Warp T charging is decent, that helps too..
