Oneplus 7T and 7T Pro

While I'm not experiencing remarkable battery life, its still pretty decent. Not doing anything spectacular in trying to maximize battery life other than auto brightness.

I've never used auto brightness on any device I've ever owned. I usually opt for 50%-80% brightness.

On my 7pro I was getting around 4 hours screen on time. Not great at all. Screen brightness is the single biggest factor in battery drain. Followed by Hotspot (if you use it), then GPS and mobile data.

So the screenshots at 91% and 82% show the system monitor does not show everything that is drawing power. Every time I check the sum of usage does not equal total amount used.

I do suspect Google Photos was using more than shown as it had like 90min of background usage.

However, drain seem to drop significantly through the day as you can see in the 35% photo that I had about 5hrs SoT.

Also a tip, I charged to 90% this morning and system battery monitor considers this a full charge. Drain is nowhere near as bad as yesterday.

I was considering dropping resolution to FHD, turning off the the lift to wake option and setting on battery saver to see the difference, but I will try that tomorrow maybe. On that note, will WhatsApp messages come through if I set it to Optimise in the Battery Optimisation settings then switch the phone to battery saver mode?

Yeah, changing the resolution and setting the phone to 60hz, and enabling battery saving mode saves a lot of battery life. I ran my phone like that for about 2 months before.
But then I decided that I want to use the latest and greatest features.

I don't have a battery issue, I am pretty happy with mine.
I rarely use a power bank.

any idea in what situations does the phone bump up the resolution when its set on auto resolution?

Youtube I think, or if you are watching a video.
I haven't found the use case anywhere.

A bit off topic. Where can one get the oneplus 8 or even 7t locally? If there's no option, what's the safest way to go about ordering overseas.

Connected Devices, the prices are decent compared to other local retailers and you get a 1 year warranty from them.

Well, Vodacom still has not collected it. Seeing all the prices out there, I'm thinking of just keeping it...

If it makes it's way back to Vodacom, maybe they can give it to me. They reported back and stuffed up my 2nd order as well, so no OnePlus 7T Pro for me. They're a bunch of useless pieces of ^#$#@%!

I used the phone on 1080p, 60hz for today and battery life is excellent. I have 30% left and have had almost 5 hours SOT.
I think it will easily get 7-8 hours of SOT on these settings.

Well Vodacom failed to collect my device and said nothing was on their system that I reported for collection. Looks like I'll be keeping it after all.

Love the phone without the tpu case. Could you guys recommend a place to get the lightest and thinnest cast?

I bought this one on Takealot. It similar in thickness to the included tpu case.

The only other options are to buy from Amazon

Sorry to keep bumping this thread. My previous device, Sony xz2 supported WiFi calling. I can't seem to find the setting anyone on the 7 pro.

You can try these steps to enable WiFi calling manually. It's a guide for the OnePlus 5, but works on all OnePlus devices.

Many thanks bud. Contacted Vodacom and they said it's due to having a dual SIM device.

You can enable the device but it is a network controlled service. My 7T is set up for MTN but they haven't enabled it.

Same on my 6T. Although Cell C supports WiFI calling, it's not enabled on my device.

The 7T Pro overheated today. anyone have advice on how to reduce the potential for this and any other advice with battery overheating?
