Seems a common problem and vol up + down + power seems to bring it back to life.

my oneplus X did exactly that,no matter what you do, nothing revived it,
sent it back and brought something else, even though I loved oneplus.

If you are bored of OxygenOS, I highly recommend installing Pixel Experience ROM (Android 11).

It adds a lot of features and is very smooth. Camera is also much better (gcam).

I picked up an as new 7 Pro 5G today for the huge price of £50 (so around R990), everything as new in the box, only issue is mild screen burn as it had been used as a demo unit.

Makes a nice cheap burner phone

I've stuck with 10 on my 7T Pro. 11 just doesn't feel as smooth and refined yet.

You don’t need root to Gcam but I’m not sure of this version as I’m rooted from the get go. Don’t recall ever granting the app super user rights...

No, I can’t be bothered with rooting or jail breaking or the like anymore. Creates more problems than solutions imo.
