OnePlus Nord

I've been looking at the 8 pro prices on aliexpress and they are really good. Never bought from them though. Are the phones legit?
Yeah they are legit, ensure you use a good seller. I can pm you mine if u want. Got the phone in under two weeks via dhl, I'm very happy with the phone.

Supposedly on the Nord, 8 and 8 Pro you can't uninstall the Facebook developed apps. Anyone try this?

OnePlus releases trailer for its first Nord feature film premiering on August 18

OnePlus released a four-part series titled New Beginnings on YouTube last month about the OnePlus Nord, and now the Chinese phone maker has released a trailer for its first feature film that's set to premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on August 18.

OnePlus says it turned the New Beginnings documentary series into its first feature film, but it's still unclear if OnePlus just stitched all four episodes of New Beginnings into one and decided to call it a "feature film", or if it did include new, previously unseen footage to it. We'll find that out on Tuesday, but in the meantime, you can check out the 40-second teaser attached below.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G and N100 unveiled: mid-rangers with LCDs and Snapdragon chipsets

OnePlus Nord N10 5G

The OnePlus N10 5G sticks close to the original formula with a mid-range Snapdragon, 90Hz display and a 64MP main camera. The N10 is aiming at a lower price bracket, though, so affordability considerations led to some changes.

The new model has a 6.49” display with 1080p+ resolution. There is one major change from the original Nord – the panel is now an LCD, the first on a OnePlus since the OnePlus 2 in 2015. Naturally, this moves the fingerprint reader on the back.

The rear camera on the Nord N10 is actually slightly better equipped than that of the original as it features a 64MP sensor inside the main camera while maintaining the 119° ultrawide lens and dedicated macro and depth modules.

A couple of things changed with the selfie camera. Good news – it’s only a single punch hole. Bad news – the 32MP main camera drops down to 16MP and the ultrawide lens is (obviously) gone.

The battery navigated the price reduction measures quite well. With a capacity of 4,300 mAh, it’s a fraction larger than the Nord battery and it charges just as fast with Warp Charge 30T (no wireless on either model).

The N10 is powered by the Snapdragon 690 chipset, which is similar to the S765G chip though with several key differences. Long story short, it uses new two big Kryo 560 CPU cores (vs. 475) and a slightly downgraded GPU, Adreno 619L. The X51 modem supports only the sub-6 flavor of 5G, but the original Nord didn’t have mmWave connectivity, so that is a wash.

Before you judge the choices OnePlus made, let us tell you the price – a OnePlus Nord N10 5G will cost €330/£330. And that is with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. For comparison, an original Nord with 8/128 GB memory goes for £380.

OnePlus Nord N100

The OnePlus Nord N100 (no 5G here) is the entry-level offering, it’s price starts at €180/£180 for a phone with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. But again, storage is easily expandable with a cheap microSD card.

This phone is based on the Snapdragon 460 chipset, a budget 11nm chip with Cortex-A73 derived cores and an Adreno 610.

The N100 has a 6.52” LCD with 900 x 1,600 px resolution, so slightly above 720p+ though not quite 1080p+ (and standard refresh rate). Unlike the N10, this one has stereo speakers. Like it, there’s a fingerprint reader on the back.

Reading this thread and others re the current choices for non-mainstream brands I'm extra glad I'd picked up a brand new 7T for R9k earlier this year

Yeah, pretty poor reviews for the 8T, and mediocre for the Nord.

Oneplus have lost their direction, hence their co-founder Carl Pei resigning.

Yeah, instead of providing flag-ship level phones at a mid-spec price (by leaving unnecessary features off the table) they appear to be trying to compete directly with the Samsungs of this world.

A pity. I would have liked to have stuck with them.

Correct, reviews are rating the additional cameras as rubbish. They should have gone single camera and priced it to match or undercut the Pixel 4A.

Weekly poll results: fans give OnePlus Nord N10 5G and N100 the cold shoulder

As the popularity of OnePlus rose, so did the prices of its phones. It was interesting to see the company revisit its old stomping ground of the sub-€400 phone as there’s always a need for a great value-for-money phone.

Is the original Nord OnePlus’ Poco moment? Maybe, but it’s too early to tell. However, last week’s poll makes it pretty clear that the OnePlus Nord N10 5G sure isn’t it – it’s not a phone that will be talked of with reverence for years after its launch.

With a measly 13% positive vote, it may not be talked about much at all. There’s too much competition in the €300-400 segment in Europe and Asia – even the company’s original Nord falls in that segment. Some commenters think that the N10 might cannibalize some sales from the Nord, though looking at the poll it doesn’t seem like they need to worry.

Software updates do worry, though. The company has officially committed to 2 years of Android updates after launch, but the N10 and N100 launch with Android 10 (while the 8T comes with 11 out of the box). And flagship models in the past have received three major OS updates, not just two, but the screen refresh rate debacle made it clear that OnePlus flagships are treated differently.

OnePlus’ newest Nord phones won’t be updated past Android 11

The new OnePlus Nord phones, the N10 5G and the N100, are questionable choices by the company. It’s not to say they are terrible phones, but they aren’t exactly the stand-out devices that OnePlus has been pumping out over the last couple of years. The latest development on these devices is OnePlus has confirmed to Android Central that the N10 and N100 will only be upgraded through Android 11.

These two Nord devices come with Android 10 out of the box, so it was assumed that OnePlus – with its excellent history record of updating devices – would eventually push an update to Android 11. As per a statement that OnePlus offered to Android Central, the company confirms that it will only offer a single major Android update.

The Nord N10 5G and N100 will receive one major Android update and a total of two years of security updates. The plan for these two devices aligns with industry standards for smartphones in more affordable price ranges. As always, we will continue listening to feedback from our users and looking for ways to improve the software experience for all OnePlus devices.
