Dumb Q, but how are you loading the Px on Zenni? Just phone the optometrist and ask for a copy of your script?

I got my prescription from specs savers suninnghill (jhb), and went to an optometerist in pineslops to get my PD (Pupillary Distance) measured.

So for Zenni+aramex global shopper i am being asked to pay: R289.10 for duties.
not sure if it's worth fighting over...but i really don't think i'll ever use aramex global shopper again even though i have a lifetime membership.

Let it go, I think it's vat 15% and clearance fee. Aramex is worse. I have a couple of orders from the USA I'm think of using MyUS.

Yep. probably their R50 Disbursement fee and 15% VAT.
But query it none the less. There is nothing to loose.

I asked for the invoice from customs...
R199.10 VAT and if i add clearance R50 that should be R249.10

They are charging me 289.10 so waiting to hear feedback.

I am also in this situation. I think that they are taking the invoice amount excluding the discount.
I am going to query this.

I need new glasses and leaving for the US in a few days. I would like to try this but i'm embarrassed to ask my optometrist for my script because they had quoted on me on glasses (over 13k) and I just never got back to them lol.

Dont feel embarrased.
They were not embarrased to quote you 13K?
You will probably end up paying less than half that if you purchase in the US.
You will also not have to contend with delivery and import duties.

wow. Lens.com is charging the same price for 2 x 90-day boxes for L & R eye contact lenses as my optometrist is charging PER 30-day box

That's what they said....but with the discount the vat amount should be lower not higher or what am I missing?

My understanding is the same. You should be paying less
The way I understand it is that VAT is payable on the actual amount Paid.
Example - When you go to a store, and purchase a sale item, then the VAT Amount indicated is the Sale Price Amount and NOT the Actual Non-Sale Amount

Last time i questioned the amount, it took 4 month to be resolved (but hey, i save R100!), this time i don't feel like waiting, so i paid....but still want the invoice to see what am I paying for.

By the way, i will never use them again.

I will probably do the same. But yeah, its ridiculous. Easy Money.
