Online Psychological Support Group

SkippyRamirez, are you willing to share any particular experiences that have shaped you thus far? Alternatively, do you feel that there is anything that may help you in figuring out or helping you cope with your current unpleasant experiences ?

OP I have heard of a couple of subreddits that already provide a platform for these kind of support groups. It might be worth investigating these to get some meaningful feedback... they are a lot more on-topic and the mods there quickly get rid of trolls.

pro tip, when trying to do serious things, dont use a name that can be linked back to your own twitter profile...

Hi Werfetter, thank you for your insight I will be sure to look into those. Any information on where to gather more insight is valuable, as this is the first port of call for all of us who are currently trying to compile a report - and we understand that we may come into contact with individuals who are likely here for the wrong purposes. This is more of an exploratory first research and if this does not succeed we will try and find other avenues that may be more beneficial.

A word of advice: If the Twitter account linked to your name is indeed yours, then I would not personally feel comfortable engaging with you on this topic, given some of the statements made in the public domain therein.

I know this is not entirely fair, but as this thread is already demonstrating, your online life is proving a hindrance to your academic query.

So, vaguely in relation to your actual question - The ability to be anonymous on a forum is a good thing....

Geesus, is that her (the model)?

Where can I book a private one on one session? :o

If I may ask a couple of questions that may benefit the research process and if any are willing to reply:

1.Have you previously used counselling / psychological services to deal with any of the issues or problems that you are currently facing or have faced ?
2. If yes, has that counselling been beneficial and if not, was there a reason for that - that you can identify ?
3. Do you feel that self - help groups better known as peer support groups could be beneficial in your daily lives?

answered.

Thank you to those who have answered the questions publicly or otherwise. I am required ethically to ask if I may use your responses in the research and bring them to our supervisors attention.

1.Have you previously used counselling / psychological services to deal with any of the issues or problems that you are currently facing or have faced ? Yes, and the lumbar punch was really not necessary:mad::crylaugh:
2. If yes, has that counselling been beneficial and if not, was there a reason for that - that you can identify ? No. I figured it out by myself.
3. Do you feel that self - help groups better known as peer support groups could be beneficial in your daily lives? Yes, talking to people with similar experiences should help.

Thank you SkippyRamirez, if I may - how did you figure it out by yourself or what process have you gone through internally as an individual to have overcome your issues by yourself ?

It's a bit hard to articulate - i'm not that good at it, I don't talk to people much, but with the depression, I stopped the medication because it made me 1) happy and 2) it stopped me from dreaming. I figured that It's no good because the meds made me feel fake. Smiling for no good reason - that worried me.

With the temporal lobe epilepsy, I just waited it out. Also was not keen on the meds either. But, weirdly enough after a while I actually started enjoying the debilitating sharp spike up through the head - at least I was feeling something.

The above 2 were the easy ones:)
